If your DH has had a SA, when did you decide to do this? We started cycle #7 today and I'm wondering if it's too soon to look into this or if it's something we can elect to do at anytime.
DH had his SA after 4 years of trying, but our docs wouldn't do anything because we weren't "Trying". We weren't timing our sex or anything. I went to a new doc and they said that was crazy that my last 2 docs said that and she ordered all our tests. Thank god she did!!!?

Extended version in my blog, but:
TTC since 2004
DX: Azoospermia
3 unmedicated IUI's, 1 with Clomid - all unsuccessful.
Moving on to DIVF #1-BFP 5dp5dt!!! 1st Beta 1/23- 269!! Beta #2 1/26 - 882!!! Beta #3 1/30- 4,250!!! 1st ultrasound 2/10 showed TWINS!!! Found out on May 2nd we are having BOYS!
DH had his SA about two years into TTC. ?We were pretty sure I was the problem, so he did his test before we started treatment just in case, so they wouldn't be in vain. ?It's a simple and non-invasive test, so I guess it's not a big deal to get it done before the magical year mark, but we personally wanted to give it the old college try before we did testing of any sort. ?It's possible to have a low sperm count, not know it, and still conceive.
dh would really like to get this done, but ppl tell us to wait it hasn't been long enough to think there might be a problem ttc. would insurance pay for it, does anyone kno?

It depends on your insurance coverage. ?It's best to call them and ask. ?If they don't cover it, it is one of the least expensive tests.?
DH had his tested cycle 6 or 7 but after a bout of testicular cancer and chemo the doc wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue there - just to be safe.
My DH just did his SA yesterday, and we had discussed having him do one at 6 cycles TTC. This is my 7th cycle in 10 months, and we're just now getting started with the various testing. We started with the SA b/c my GYN suggested that as the easy first step. My GYN told me that in our situation (both 30 or going to be, my irregular cycles, and my husband post TBI) if we didn't get a bfp after 6 cycles of well-timed intercourse, then it would be time to start looking into why.
My advice would be to talk to your GYN and call your insurance company to see what they cover so you don't get any surprizes. GL!

Ditto Savat - 7th cycle charting. I highly recommend it, it's a relatively inexpensive test and can save a lot of time depending on results. GL!
