Baby Names

Need unique baby girl names

Thought this might be easier than searching through more baby name books and getting nowhere.  DH and I aren't in to anything too off the wall but don't want anything too common either.

We don't know the sex of our babe but have a boy name picked out so need girl name ideas.  We tend to gravitate to the feminine pretty girl names.  Please help! :)

  • If I had a little girl her name would be Grace Elizabeth
  • A friend I know named their daughter Dazryn. I think it's cute.  I have the same problem, trying to pick a unique name...A lot of the suggestions I get are not unique at all.  (Like the name Hannah... Way to popular for me!)

  • Elianna, Carleigh, Laylah, Hailie, Laurel, Kaylah, Donna, Selina, Shea, Emelia.
  • I recently just heard of the name Haven, and I've decided we'll use it if we ever have another girl. In my opinion, girl names are so much easier than picking boy names.. so many more unique options. Have fun!

  • Its really hard to find good unique names. A lot of the older style names are unique because they haven't been used in a long time. I would look in the older eras for names. Evalynn is one of my favorites but DH rejected it. I also like Claire, Vanessa (more modern), Grace (getting to be more common), Isabella, Shea (MY FAVORITE)

We've been looking into names by region/culture. Right now our top pick is Isabella Cecelia. Other options we have considered is Dafni Laurel and Merina Bella. I also like the names Melody and Harmony because of my music background and Aurora because its different and pretty, with the nn of Rori or Ari. Dh's picked...they tend to be more Greek and some I can't even pronounce right....Ariodne (airy-ODD-knee), Penelope, Coliope........So ours are a bit out there for some.

  • I have a friend named Charis and I always liked her name. It's unique, but not too out there.

I also knew a girl named Piper and thought it was a cool name when I was younger b/c nobody else I knew had her name.

  • We named DD Chelsea. It was popular in the 90s when Clinton was in office, but has been steadily falling on the SSA list since then. It was number 221 last year.

  • Perhaps a floral name: they rarely go out of style completely and are very feminine and pretty...

Rose (and all of the many many permutations), Ivy, or Lily, perhaps?

  • I like Bijou, Cricket (a family name), Dylan, Ever, Gypsy, India, Layla, Lulu, Lux, Monroe, Monet, Pippa, Scout, Sonnet, Tallulah, Viva, and Zizi...several of these are on DH and my "favorites" list.
  • What about Blair?

We're naming our daughter Gwyneth (Gwen). The name only made it onto the SS top 1000 list one year, and was barely on it then. But, it's well recognized, and relatively easy to spell.

    Cute! I like it.

  • I like Melanie, Mallory, Victoria, Samantha, Juliet, Jillian, Julia, Caroline, Julianne, Valerie, Cara, Violet, Lucy, Annie, Leanne, Helen, Susanna, Bethany, Heidi, Lydia, Savannah.?
  • Our daughter's name is Dylan.?
