I'm trying to decide whether I should get one now or later. We have a bassinet for the room that was given to us. It has wheels so I can roll it out of the room if I wanted to. We live in a one-story condo. I'm thinking a PNP is probably not needed right now. Just wanted to hear what you all are doing.
Re: Those in an apt/condo: are you getting PNP?
We are not getting a PNP because we do live in a one story apt. Like you, we have (or are receiving) a bassine and then we will also have a crib in the nursery. Both sets of grandparents have a PNP at their homes from prior grandkids, so that worked out well for us.
We got got one. We are putting it in our living room. I did not get a bassinet or co-sleeper so I figured I could use the PNP (it has a bassinet in it) if the crib doesn't work out for us.
We only have a one bedroom so the crib is next to my bed for now.
We got a used one with a changing table/bassinet portion attached to it for the living room. It's sitting next to my glider so he can be in the living room with me when I'm out doing stuff in the kitchen and I might not hear him wake up in his crib.
Also thinking about wheeling it into our bedroom for the first few months too. His crib will stay in his room.
It really depends on how much room you have. We could probably do without it, but I'm sure it will come in handy when we go to grandmas house and such.
We live in a ranch and decided not to get one. My parents have a crib at their house (which was given to us by a friend) and his parents live in Spain (no way am I hauling a PNP to Spain).
If we need one for travel down the road, we'll pick one up.
We live in a 2 bedroom apt - one is ours and one is for our LO. Even though they're right next to each other and s/he has a full sized crib in his/her room, we have a PNP w/bassinet in our room. It fits just fine in the corner and we've been hearing that it's better for baby to be in the same room with you to get breathing patterns down and to just make its transition a lot easier. Plus when we go home to WI (from OH) at the end of July, it will give baby a familiar place to sleep while on vacation.
As long as you already have a bassinet, I don't think a PNP is necessary. Hope that helps!
