Those in an apt/condo: are you getting PNP?

I'm trying to decide whether I should get one now or later.  We have a bassinet for the room that was given to us.  It has wheels so I can roll it out of the room if I wanted to.  We live in a one-story condo.  I'm thinking a PNP is probably not needed right now.  Just wanted to hear what you all are doing.

Re: Those in an apt/condo: are you getting PNP?

  • We are getting one, but only for when we are visiting other people.  I want one to bring to my grand-parents, to ILs...and such.  But I'm not planning in using it at home.  We have a bassinet for now and then he'll go straight to his crib.

  • My sis gave us a pnp that we were going to use for the first couple of months...and then my friend gave me a crib...our place is too small for both...so I'm thinking we might just use the pnp until we move and then set up the crib later. But if you already have the bassinet and its on wheels...you probably dont need a pnp right now...
  • We have a pnp with a bassinet feature in ours. It fits nicely in the corner in the bedroom. If you already have a bassinet I would wait awhile before I get a pnp.
  • We are not getting a PNP because we do live in a one story apt. Like you, we have (or are receiving) a bassine and then we will also have a crib in the nursery.  Both sets of grandparents have a PNP at their homes from prior grandkids, so that worked out well for us.

  • We aren't getting a PNP and won't once we move either.

  • We got a pnp and have it set up in our room even though dd's room is immediately next to ours and her crib is all ready for her. I am getting more and more terrified of sids the closer I get to dd's arrival so I wanted to be prepared to have her in our room incase my paranoia gets the best of me.
  • We got got one. We are putting it in our living room. I did not get a bassinet or co-sleeper so I figured I could use the PNP (it has a bassinet in it) if the crib doesn't work out for us.

We only have a one bedroom so the crib is next to my bed for now.

We're in a one bedroom apartment so we will be using a PNP with a bassinet attachment.
  • We got a used one with a changing table/bassinet portion attached to it for the living room. It's sitting next to my glider so he can be in the living room with me when I'm out doing stuff in the kitchen and I might not hear him wake up in his crib.

Also thinking about wheeling it into our bedroom for the first few months too. His crib will stay in his room.

It really depends on how much room you have. We could probably do without it, but I'm sure it will come in handy when we go to grandmas house and such.

  • We live in a small, one bedroom condo- only about 750 square feet total!  So needless to say we do not have a crib.  I have a bassinet next to my bed for now.  We also have a PNP that I keep folded up in the closet; while we're using the bassinet I plan to use the PNP for trips to grandparents/relatives houses, vacations (if we should be so lucky LOL), etc.  Then once he grows out of the bassinet- which I'm predicting will be around 4 months or so- we'll set up the PNP in our room.  (Our PNP also has a bassinet and changing table attachments, so we may end up deciding to use it earlier- who knows.)  But in general I think a PNP is a good item to have.
  • Since the bassinet has wheels you may not need a PNP, unless you plan to travel, in which case they are handy for taking on trips.
  • We live in a ranch and decided not to get one. My parents have a crib at their house (which was given to us by a friend) and his parents live in Spain (no way am I hauling a PNP to Spain).

If we need one for travel down the road, we'll pick one up.

  • my uncle is giving us his. we will just use it for traveling though.
  • We live in a 2 bedroom apartment and we did register for a PNP. We don't plan on using it at home, since he'll go straight to the crib when we get to bring him home, but we registered for it because the ILs don't have a crib or anything that we can use for him to sleep in when we visit.
  • We live in a 2 bedroom apt...and we got one, we are using the bassinet feature at first because he won't be sleeping in the nursery for a few months.
  • We live in a 2 bedroom apt - one is ours and one is for our LO. Even though they're right next to each other and s/he has a full sized crib in his/her room, we have a PNP w/bassinet in our room. It fits just fine in the corner and we've been hearing that it's better for baby to be in the same room with you to get breathing patterns down and to just make its transition a lot easier. Plus when we go home to WI (from OH) at the end of July, it will give baby a familiar place to sleep while on vacation.

As long as you already have a bassinet, I don't think a PNP is necessary. Hope that helps!
