What is your personal ?visitor policy? for the hospital and first days/weeks at home?

I just want DH with me in the hospital, but my parents will be there. Initially we were going to have my family (of three) and DH's family (of 4) staying with us that weel, but his family had to drop out ( thank god, i don't even think i can handle my family.)

I really just want to take it easy, and have it be quiet. Honestly...I wish it was just H, Me, and Max

DH and my mom will be there. DH only gets a few days off though. So, my mom will be staying as long as I need her. ILs will not find out anything till LO is born. They are only allowed to come for a few days and only once we're home.

As far as the hospital goes, we want at least an hour to ourselves after baby comes. After that I'm fine with visitors, but I hope no one stays too long. Luckily the hospital has pretty strict visiting hours so that should help as well.

I'm fine with visitors once we go home as long as they don't expect me to be entertaining them and again, I hope no one stays for too long.

My parents will probably be waiting at the hospital and IL's will come down once she's arrived. We'd like a few days at home to ourselves to transition and then we'll welcome visitors one or two at a time of family/close friends. Thankfully most of our family will not come visit so we are not too worried.

All of our family lives far away so there won't be too many people around when I am in hospital- just SIL (who is taking care of DD) and ILs. For home, we've planned to have one person staying with us for the first 4 weeks. First week it's SIL, weeks 2 and 3 it's my mom, week 4 my sister. Anybody else is welcome to come at any time but they have to stay in a hotel. I think that's fair.

We are not making restrictions even though I want to. I would love to tell the hospital no visitiors at all because I think people that I don't want up there will just show up. Especially people from work. I'm hoping once we get home people will leave us alone for a few weeks.

Update on me: My EDD is 7/15. However, due to my complications with this pregnancy and my last one, I will be having a scheduled c-section tomorrow!!! I'm officially full-term and way excited since I had DS at 25 weeks. After 3.5 months of bed rest, I'm pumped about tomorrow!

Well both my family and SO's family will be at the hospital when LO is born. Also the god-parents will be there as well. I am sure there will be people that stop by which is ok for the most part as long as people don't stay forever. As for when we get home, sadly, I know there are going to be quite a few people that show up to meet her if they don't come to the hospital. I know my mother and grandmother are getting a hotel and staying for a few days.

Any family and friends are welcome to vist while in the hospital or at home. As long as they're not sick me and DH are ok. even kids are allowed to visit at home because they're not allowed at the hospital unless there siblings.

Lucky for us, the hospital has a rule that no visitors are allowed for 1 hr after the birth to let us bond and get baby's breast feeding latch down. After that, that only people that will actually be there will be FIL and my parents (from WI) which is fine with me.?

When we get home, my parents will be staying at a hotel less than a mile away for about a week or two and then after that my grandparents are making the trip (WI to OH) to help us for about a week. Again, they will be in a hotel which we are so thankful for.

We're looking forward to moving back to our hometown in WI about 3 months after baby is born - ALL of our family lives there so it will be nice to have such constant support and love and be within 10 minutes of everyone we love again instead of 14 hours. ?

W: I think my parents and the ILs will be at the hospital, in the waiting room. I don't want them in the room until after the baby is born and we've had a chance to bond/breastfeed. I think it's silly that they will be sitting out there for what could be forever, but they're all being stupidly stubborn about it... once we're home, DH and I have decided that we'd like a few days (3-4) alone as a family before anyone comes to visit. But I'm pretty flexible about this and realize that I may want my mom's help sooner, so we'll see.

On the L&D floor my DH is the only one allowed per hospital policy. Once I get moved to Postpartum I know my mom will visit. My dad will probably come down too since he lived far away when my sister delivered all of her kids. I definitely want my sister and nieces to visit, they are so excited to see the babies. My IL's will come for the day then my MIL will come back and stay with us for a couple days once we figure out how long we will need help (depends if I need a c-section or not)

When i am in the first stages of labor anyone can come and go. The hopsital only allows i think 2 people in the room at a time, but my OB says they usually break that rule....When it comes to pushings its just my DH...

Home, i think my mother is planning on staying for a couple days but thats it... i relaly dont want many visitiors unless Dh is at work.

For the hospital: I want some time to recover after birth and spend time with our baby. After that, people can stop by but hopefully not stay for too long.

Once we get home: I'm dreading the whole visitor thing because our apartment is small and I'm anxious thinking about tons of people coming to visit. I'm definitely going to encourage people to call first if they want to stop by.

I don't really have one...DH and I will be the only ones in L&D room...but after that, immediate family is welcome to visit at the hospital, and I have no policy for at home. So, we'll see how it goes!

I never really had a set policy with DD -- DH obviously and some neighbors stopped by. But our families weren't in town so we didn't have to worry about other visitors.

This go round, my ILs will probably visit at least once with DD in tow and I figure they may hang out a bit while I'm there. The neighbors might show up again at the hospital at least once. But I'm not planning an official policy or anything because I'm not predicting a huge influx of visitors. Thankfully. And I figure if I'm not up for visitors, I'll just warn them in advance that I'm tired or whatever and will likely need to cut it short. Or if at home, just be unavailable in my room.

DH and mom will be there for the C/S. After that, I'm fine with people coming to visit whenever. I just want to be sure I maximize my time with the lacation consultants so I can learn as much as I can before leaving the hospital.

I want at least an hour with the baby before anyone comes in to visit (this includes our parents) and then I really don't mind if other people want to visit. I hopefully won't be in the hospital for very long. When we get home I don't mind a few visitors here and there, but I do not want a ton within the first week of being home. I'd like to keep that time for close friends and family.

I have not checked in, in a long time! Baby and I are both doing great though!

We had a trip to L&D yesterday for some monitoring, everyone is doing fine, we just needed to get some fluids.

I bought the Medela Pump In Style, I plan to pump once I return to work, so I thought that this pump would be best.

As for our personal visitor policy... we do not plan to call anyone until after the baby gets here and we have had time for bonding. So at the hospital we are hoping only immediate family stops by. On Saturday at my shower, after thanking everyone for coming, I told them all they were welcome to stop by and visit the baby once we got home and settled. I did ask that they call first. We also put the word out that if you have any signs or symptoms of illness, cold or flu, that you please wait to come visit.

T: I registered for a Medela manual pump, but probably won't buy it myself unless I decide I need it. I plan on exclusively BF'ing

W: We won't take any visitors until we get settled in to the mother/baby rooms after labor. We want time to bond with baby and I'd like to shower. My FIL will insist on pictures and I refuse to have any taken during or right after labor.

I'd like to have as short of a hospital stay as possible, so after we get home and settle in for a day or two we'll let family and close friends come by but they must call first.

W: I'm having DH and my parents & my two sisters at the hospital. I told them I will decide whether or not they are going to be in the room or not at that time because I'm not sure how I'll feel and I don't want them to be disappointed. When we get home I want at least 24 hours to myself, DH and the LO to get acquainted and then everyone else can come.

In the waiting room it will be my parents, my aunt, my cousin, and maybe my sister, ILs, 2 BILs, SIL, DH's 2 aunts, and DH's 2 uncles. (OY!!!) They may NOT come into the hospital room until I am ready and even then it will only be for a few minutes. No one other than those mentioned above and no one can come to the hospital until after 12 (except for DH).

As for at home ONLY the parents and siblings. No one else until I am ready. I might end up with a c/s so it could take awhile for me to want visitors.

For the hospital: I'll pretty much allow friends and family to drop in and visit while I'm in the earlier part of active labor. When contractions start getting very intense.....only DH and my sister are allowed in. Nobody but DH is allowed to take pictures (of me) during the entire time.

For home: This won't likely be a problem either......all my family lives out of town, so I know exactly when they'll be around.

Hospital- no one is allowed to see us until we've had our own time (at least an hour) alone with the baby. And then it will only be grandparents, our siblings and super close friends.

Home- if you bring food, we will open the door. If you sit your butt on the couch and eat all of the food, you will be shown to the door. And if you think it's OK to watch me breastfeed, you have to remove your shirt as well.
