Air Travel- gate checking car seat

Hi girls-- we're headed out via airplane in a few weeks, and we will be gate checking our car seat and base (along with travel stroller).

Do I need to buy a car seat bag ahead of time (BRU or Amazon, maybe?) or will they provide a plastic bag at the gate that will suffice?

I'm mostly worried about dirt/grime, and not so much damage, which is why I think a standard trash bag, etc will do the trick.... am I wrong?

  • I would bring your own if you are gate checking.  They provide one if you check it when you check in, but I have never been given one at the gate.

  • bring your own, it saved our seat and so worth it.  If you gate check it they don't put anything over it.
  • we got one for our stroller for $10 (plain red canvas bag that says "gate check") and a large heavy duty black one for our carseat for $20 at BRU.  our carseat one has little wheels on it so that when we have to start gate checking our britax it will be easier!!

i would definitely buy your own.
