Please tell me how crazy I am being!

Background:  My grandma died in October and since she wanted to be cremated (sp) we decided to wait until the end of June to have a memorial service so that my aunt and great aunt could attend.  Well, approx 4 days later I found out I was pg and due at the end of June...literally 3 days before the memorial. 

So now fast forward to today...my past two internals have showed no progress and now today I am dilated to a tight 2cm and still thick.  The memorial is on Sunday (I will be overdue) and is approx 1 hr 45 min away from my hospital.  I really want to be there b/c I never really got any kind of closure with her death, but on the other hand it's kinda far away.  This is my first baby so if I started to go into labor we would probably have plenty of time to get back, but I also tested positive for GBS.  PLEASE HELP ME!  I seriously am going nutz trying to decide if I am being crazy for wanting to go.  Thanks for your honest opinions!

    No one can blame you for wanting to go!  But your Doc will probably want you to avoid the long distance travel just to be safe, talk to him/her and see what they say.  At this time in your pregnancy their reasons for wanting you to stick close to home are increasingly valid!

    I'm so sorry for your loss.  I would definitely discuss this with your Dr and see what she/he says about it.  If you do go, I would map out where the nearest hospital is just in case and double check that your insurance will cover you in a different hospital.  I definitely would see if I could go, though, to get closure.  I'm sure many people would say they wouldn't, but I'm pretty relaxed about these things.

    Did you ask your doctor's opinion?

    Do you have to decide now?  I would probably wait and see what happens between today and Saturday and then decide.

    Have you talked to your OB about you traveling far away after your EDD?

    I'm sorry to hear about your grandma, my grandma died last June and I still miss her alot.  I understand the need for closure.   But I would probably hesitant to go so far, especially with the positive GBS result.

    You aren't being crazy for wanting to go. Of course you want to pay your last respects. But, I really think is a good idea to stay at home. "Probably" have plenty of time to get back, isn't a great sentence.

    I agree with everyone. Talk to your Dr. Maybe he/she will be able to help you make your decision.

    I don't think that you are crazy for wanting to go. If it were me I would talk it over with my doctor and get his opinion. And what to see how I feel...if later in the week I still was unsure then I would probbly stay home.  I think the best thing to is discuss it with the doctor and I would listen to my instincts. Smile
