After an inaccurate guess of 9lbs 4oz and low amniotic fluid last Wednesday at our BPP, we decided to go to L&D later that night because she was not moving around as much. ?So her goes and if anyone has any questions about this mind blowing experience, please ask away - I warn you, I am brutally honest!
?
We arrived at the hospital at 9pm. ?After another us at L&D, they decided to keep us because the amniotic fluid was too low and the cervadil was put in at 11pm. ?This was the beginning of contractions. ?I was still 0cm dialated. ?Jump to 8:30am and a shift change. ?The next doc came in, took out the Cervadil, which did absolutely nothing besides give me contractions, and decided to use Folley Balloons to manually dialate me. ?So in they went at 9am. ?I was told to walk a lot with two tubes taped to my thigh. ?Let me tell you, peeing is not easy. ?The first time it went down my leg and the second time, straight up in the air and all over the floor and my pants. ?Also, in an attempt to begin labor on my own I ate a super caliente Mexican meal the day before. ?This does NOT FEEL GOOD coming out!
?
Fast forward 12 hours to 8:30pm. ?I am finally 4cm dialated, so the doc pops the Folley Balloon out, and breaks my water. ?OUCH. ?They begin pumping me full of fluid and begin the Pitocin drip. ?So, for the first time since I got to the hospital, I have nothing in my vag, but constant fluid coming out. ?I went two and a half hours of Pitocin induced contractions before I finally broke and demanded an epi. ?After having stead contractions for nearly 24 hours, my body couldn't handle it anymore. ?As soon as I got the epi, the nurse asked if I felt a contraction. ?I looked at her bewildered and said yes. ?She looked at my SO and mouthed that there was no contraction! ?The epi was like night and day, but yet again I had another tube (catheter) hanging form me. ?This is where the fun begins.
?
The doc comes in after the epi and I am still at 4cm, so the pitocin did nothing except make me cry. ?I finally passed out but was awoken at 1am to bells and whistles, nurses, the doc, and some strange man taking blood from my other hand. ?They were flipping me and shoved an oxygen mask on my face and I began to shake uncontrollably. ?I had no idea what was going on. ?The doc fisted me (luckily I couldn't feel it because of the epi) and had to manually stimulate LO's head to get her back to life. ?There was also meconium in the fluid. ?Everyone left the room and said they were going to give her 5 minutes to see if she stayed stable before they decided what to do next. ?About 20 minutes later, her heart rate dropped again (repeat above experience). ?THis time they inserted another catheter to monitor her heart rate and the actual strength of the contractions. ?They also began putting fluid back in my ute because everytime I contracted, fluid would get squeezed out and the umbilical cord was getting pinched, making her heart rate drop to the 50's and 60's. ?Fast forward to 3am. (repeat above experience again) ?
The doc came in and checked me again. ?I was still at 4cm. ?At this time he decided that LO had to come out another way and I was taken for a c section. ?By this time, I did not care how they got her out I was just terrified that I was going to loose her. ?The surgery went well despite me shaking uncontrollably. ?SO took pictures of them pulling her out of me and watched the whole gory mess. ?She scored 9 and 9 on her apgars, weighed 7lbs, 11 oz, 21 inches long with a 14 inch head. ?I truly believe my cervix got one feeling of the size of her head and protested by not opening anymore! ?She was screaming bloody murder before she was even all the way out and had a little bit of a cone head from pushing in the canal for so long but it went way in 2 days. ?She was born at 3:56am on 6/19/09. ?Yes I went through 30 hours or hell to get her here but every second was worth it! ?I don't know if the pic came up, but if not I will try and post it again.
?
FYI - My "plan" was to go natural. ?Yeah, there was nothing natural about any of my reality!?

Re: Gianna Rayne came screaming into the world!
congrats!
Holy mother of God. There should have been a warning on that one! haha
Sorry you had to go through so much, I'm glad your girl is healthy!
Oh, my stars - I don't think I've ever read "and then the doc fisted me" in a birth story before! Are you going to put this version in your daughter's baby book?
Congrats on getting your daughter into the world safe and sound! Phew!
Chester County?
I think I will put this version in her baby book. ?I like to keep it honest! ?Maybe she will read it during her teenage years and it will scare her enough to abstain for a little while longer!?
