By color, size, type, etc.....lol. Sorry, not quite!
I put all the onesies together, then anything that is over 3-6 months we are putting in boxes and marking the outside of the box. No point in having it in the drawer if we can't use it.
We just washed all the clothes that we got from our shower and I split them up with sizes. The bigger ones (3-6 months and up) are in a tote with the biggest on the bottom getting smaller towards the top. The newborn and 0-3 months clothes are hung up and in the dresser. We don't really have much hung up because we have mostly onesies and comfortable clothes for the hot summer months but the nicer outfits are hung up.
someone suggested to me to group the clothes in outfits, including socks, etc. That way, you can just open the drawer and pull out the entire outfit without having to try to find anything. Thought it was an interesting suggestion...
I still have major washing to do but so far I have hung her outfits in the closet by size and folded onesies, shorts/pants/skirts/etc. in drawers by size as well. I also tried to keep all of the long-sleeved onesies together and the short-sleeved onesies in another stack...we'll see how long that lasts
I hung most of them by size and tried to use as many of the store hangers that have the sizes as possible. Then I have 4 baskets on the shelf. One has 0-3 onesies, one has bibs, one has little pants, and the last has socks, hats, etc... Then his armoire has two drawers of socks: the first are 0-6 and the second are 6-12. I also bought a sock organizing crate but haven't used it yet. I stacked burp cloths in a pile in the closet and receiving blankets in a pile in the closet. Hope this helps!
simple onsie's etc for immediate sizes go in her drawer (current clothing to be worn). Dresses and anything that is future sizes gets hung in the closet.
Right now I have absolutely everything hanging on hangers, and I have it separated by size.
After I wash everything, I plan to rearrange. I'm thinking I'll still have most outfits on hangers (I prefer my own stuff on hangers so that I can see everything). I'll probably put in drawers: onesies, pajamas/sleepers, and maybe little undershirts (if I want them to be in with the onesies). I'll use the other drawers for blankets and stuff. I still plan to organize by size.
Most everything size newborn and 0-3 is being put in the dresser. Everything bigger will be put in a box to pull out as needed. I have nicer things hanging in the closet by size, but its not a lot.
I have all the NB clothes in the smallest (top) drawer of the dresser. In the drawer below that, I have all of the 0-3 clothes folded and organized AND some larger sleepers. All of the clothing that we have that is larger than 0-3 is hanging in the closet. I color-coded the hangers... 3-6 stuff is on white hangers, 6-9 on green, and 9+ on blue. I hope I can keep it this organized... we'll see!

This is a long standing debate in my head.
Right now, everything is hung in the closet by size but I think that the onesies, socks and hats will be moving to the dresser.
I'll put the sleep sacks, sheets, diapers and wipes in the dresser too

Size then type within size (shorts, pants, tees, onesies, etc.)?
If he gets here and we find some things fit from different sizes, I'll probably just rearrange by type and not worry about size. ?
