can new wipes = diaper rash?

I had been using either the target brand or Luvs wipes for the last 4 or so months. My MIL gave us some Huggies unscented at the beginning and DD was fine with those. I have been using the Huggies Soft Skin ones for about a week or so and after yesterday's major poo's DD has had diaper rash all day yesterday and today. I have been using Destin to combat it but it hasn't cleared up but seems to be getting worse almost.

Any ideas? I think I am going to just use a wash cloth with water until it clears up just to be safe. I never noticed any issues until yesterday.

Re: can new wipes = diaper rash?

  • We had that problem a few month back with the parents choice shea butter ones. Madi broke out in a spotty diaper rash from them. I would suggest using the ones that are bugging her bum as after meal wipes for her face/hands and go back to the tried and true for diaper changes. I noticed a change right away when I switched back to her usual ones

  • My DD is severely allergic to any product made by huggies. Diapers, wipes, anything.

  • try a&d ointment. we've only had 1 case of diaper rash in 11 months and one application of a&d cleared it up in a couple hours!
  • Absolutely can be the wipes- I would recommend returning to the ones you know work or use wet plain white paper towels- that is what my pedi recommended from the start and what we use and DS has never had a diaper rash.
  • ds is allergic to all disposable wipes, so it's definitely possible.
