Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When did your baby hold its head up on its own for more than a few seconds?

  • It depends on the position.  At 3 months he could hold it up well if he's over my shoulder but he still can't hold it up when he' son  his tummy.

  • My DS did from birth, starting in the NICU (because they often placed him on his tummy). ?But he's a crazy little muscle man. ?I don't think that's typical.
  • Probably around 10 weeks? I can't remember exactly. But she's always had a pretty strong neck.

Ours too. He has amazing head strength and does full push up and holds them. He can't sit fully well yet obviously but his head and neck strength are good. He was rolling over at 3 weeks - he is just a very determined little baby.

  • LOL- Drew has been doing this for 2 weeks.  He is amazingly strong.  If he is laying on your chest he can pick his head up and look at you for about 1 min.  It;s so funny!

  • DD has been holding her head up for a few minutes at a time the last week or two. She's getting pretty good at it.

  • She was pretty good at it when she was born. But maybe at like 3-4 weeks she could go for a solid 5-10 seconds.

  • Since birth; dude is crazy strong.  He's extremely stiff-backed and always has been.  MIL said Dh was the same way as a baby.
