I FINALLY got DH to take public transit and now this. He isn't going to go anywhere near a metro now.
It's one thing after another on this system. It's not a typical week in DC if something doesn't go horribly wrong with one of the trains. Good thing we pay so much for such great service.

Yeah, it looked pretty awful with the one metro train perched on top of the other. They are now saying four people died and there are about 70 total injured. Tragic.
My brother takes the red line to work every day, so it was a tense afternoon until I got a call from him.
Anytime something happens like this, or a car accident, I just think that those people hurt or killed are someone's children. My hormones are going crazy, and I certainly feel for the families. How sad.

Oh yikes-there goes that idea. Hey: any luck renting your place? I have a rental house all the way out in Winchester and my renters are moving out next month and I'm DREADING having to rent it in this market.

Oh, it's been a pain! We have showed the place to a million people. There is just so much on the market. *sigh* I'm just hoping that someone finally falls in love with the place.
I can't believe more people weren't killed, (though I guess there are some serious injuries) that train is ripped apart. Must have been absolutley terrifying for anyone on board.
Yes, metro has a lot of problems that make it very irritating, but for the most part it is incredibly safe, this is the deadliest accident in it's history.

No KIDDING! We are moving next month to 1/2mile from Vienna station and I convinced DH to try metro for his daily commute to DC. He is now insisting that 66 all the way in is safer and that as a father of 3 he can't take that risk. Hmmm....

HAHA... um, I give him a few days sitting in that traffic before he gladdly hops on the metro. I would throw myself off a cliff if I had to drive to work on 66 every morning.

I'm jealous. You could walk to the metro! I have to drive and what should take me 7-10 minutes takes a good 20-40. Ugh. I hate DC traffic. I would rather take the metro though, than have to drive. At least I could read the paper and sit and relax for a little bit. I have a nasty case of road rage.

No kidding. I used to commute from Purcellville to Arlington via the toll road and 66--total nightmare. SOOOO glad I work from home now. The commute nearly killed me.

I wish. He's already been doing it for 8 years (we're moving 4 miles in). He thinks nothing of 75-90 minutes in to commute 22 miles in.

Re: DC metro rail crash
It's quite a disaster.

You know our local news channels have to compete over sensationalizing everything.
You're just lucky that you live on the orange line and not the red! Hopefully he can grab a taxi and get home soon.
