We need to get a nanny set up for when I go back to work in early August. I feel like I have no idea how much money to offer to pay them though. I was just curious what the going rate might be.
apparently my computer is going psycho....we paid our nanny $12 an hour...which amounted to $100 a day...so $500 a week. WE had her for the first year since our girls were so preemie and were in need of daycare during RSV season...I have a feeling we're going to regret come this RSV season taht we don't have a nanny anymore, but our nanny whom we love is finishing her last year of school and the classes she needs are ONLY offered during the day....so we opted for the girls to go to my neighbor's house..hey we're going to save $1k a month...so that is nice. (can you tell I'm trying to make myself feel better about this?)
$15 an hour and it will go to $20 when my twins come (Harm will start preschool at that time so it isn't like she will have all 3 kids and I am WAH which is nice so I can always help out).
Mom to Harmon 1/17/08 and twins Rachel & Callum 8/28/09
In my area the average is $15-$20/hr for more than one child. We started our nanny at $16/hr and recently gave her a raise to $17/hr. She works 45 hrs a week for us.
Re: How much do you pay your nanny?
For the Seattle area I've been finding $16-$20 to be the norm.
