Multiples

First time out with the twins = first time being the freak show :)

not that i mind the attention (at least not NOW... i'm sure i will eventually or on certain days)

but YIKES- having twins does make you the freak show! I'm glad i knew to expect it since so many on here have talked about it.

It took us 10 minutes extra to get out of the doc's office today b/c every nurs and staff memeber wanted to see them.  They all know me from my job - but they weren't this interested when Griffin was born!

and at BRU afterwards- everyone we walked by made a comment or had to come and look.  I told DH, "that's it- we are officially a freak show- just wait until we're out with all 3 kids!" :)

let the games begin!

Re: First time out with the twins = first time being the freak show :)

  • We went to the local farmers market this weekend with all three of us and had the same experience. Everyone was really nice but I told DH that I was tempted to push the DSNG around with a "Gotcha" sign in the carseats because so many people were rubber necking to see the babies. It was like they saw the stroller and just couldn't resist the temptation to look and see if there really were twins in the stroller. :::sigh:::: and so it begins. : P

  • I know what you girls mean. It is crazy. I think it will get even worse for us now that one of my boys has to wear a helmet for his flat spot.
  • LMAO...I take my three (9 month old twin boys and a 2 year old girl) out all the time (usually once a day for my own sanity) and average around 3-4 "you've got your hands full" per outing.  The most we've ever gotten was 9 in one grocery outing :-)!  Good luck!!
  • I am not a person who likes attention drawn to them at all.

I hate when we go out and we get stopped and comments are made or people rubber neck.

I don't know if it makes a difference but I also have a 2 year old DD - so of course I get comments on that to!!  3 kids under 2.

It even happens at church, which we go to every single week.

I also would think with all the multiples that around now a days we would be less of a freak show.

  • OMG TOTAL RUBBER NECKS!!!! I have to admit though that I enjoy it right now!!! It's fun!

I made a blog post about this the other day. Feel free to read it.

My dad, who is a very patient man, got frustrated at all the comments when he was visiting.

  • I think out in public I'll be covering the seats with a blanket just to keep people from stopping me/us so much.

I had them covered with blankets and people still came over. I think its just the fact that there are two seats that catches their attention.

  • though, i promise, it could be worse.... :)

  • I have explained this to my h many times. I hope he knows that an outing with all 3 will be long.
  • Most of the time, it is fun. But, welcome! This is almost, like, a rite of passage for a MOM!
  • sunday was our first time taking the girls out to church. i was trying to be really inconspicuous and go through the back door to get into the children's chapel. then one of the ushers said that it was quicker going through another entrance, and started escorting us. yeah it was quicker, but we had to pass right in front of the alter, in front of the entire congregation! and that dang triplet stroller is not that easy to navigate in tight spaces. ugh i wanted to melt into the floor.
  • poor griffin! i hope he adjusts to them getting so much more attention than he does. its gotta be hard for the little guy! im sure at least you guys are doing your best to try and help him though this!

i dont think i am going to be very nice sometimes when people do this... at first i might be fine, but its going to get old SUPER fast!!! its great that i will have twins, but they are people too! i guess i will have to get over it!!!!

  • I didnt realize twins were such a big deal.  But I think it sounds kinda fun...

  • Sometimes it can be fun to get all the attention and other times it drives me nuts, I just want to get my shopping done as fast as possible. Also, it makes you stand out even more when you cannot fit through doorways or aisles with stroller. Kind of like when I was pregnant and could no longer sit in a resturant booth because my belly no longer fit.
