Babies on the Brain

F my life sideways. and backwards. and in the downward dog position.

Andrew will.not.sleep.

He's currently in his carseat on the dryer (and yes, I can see it from where I'm sitting. Simmer down.)

I can't stand and nurse his chunky self for another minute, and that's the only way he'll fall asleep today.

  • Oh Aggie.  I'd start drinking heavily.  You poor thing.

  • He's been on this kick of waking up every thirty minutes, all night and during naps, for a few days. Last night was the first time he didn't do that in a week, and now his naps are totally FUBAR'ed.

    He's tired but he.won't.sleep.

  • 4 month wakeful that I hear so much about?

Who the hell knows? I thought he already did that.

  • I second the wrap (and I didn't say sling b/c if memory serves your LO is a big boy like K so they are worthless).  I got my Moby a few weeks back and it has seriously saved my sanity.

Yeah, I tried to shove him into a sling when he was a newborn, it didn't work out so well.

He does like the Moby, so that will be my next trick. Right now he's in the swing, having rejected the dryer.

  • Oh, Aggie.  I'm sorry.

  • I don't know if you have already tried this.  I was babysitting the other night and the little girl (who is slightly younger than your LO) would not stop crying.  Screaming.

I walked in the bathroom while pacing the floor with her and hit the wrong switch and the fan came on.  She not only stopped crying, but fell asleep in ten minutes.  Then I managed to drag her bouncy seat in there and transfer her to that and she slept for a good hour or more.

It might be worth a try?

  • Similar to the bathroom fan, what about the vacuum?

  • I'm sorry hon. That stupid 4 month wakeful sucks especially if it is combined with a growth spurt. I hope he sleeps for a while and gives you a rest. Big hugs!!!

Have you tried lavender essential oils for him? I just put a few drops on a cotton ball and brushed it on his shirt and it helped to calm Lucas down.

  • Have you tried static on the radio (turned up VERY loud)? It is seriously a gift from God when Colin is fighting sleep. I turn on the static, the crying stops, and he's asleep in just a few minutes.

Do we have the same baby? Mine hasn't slept all day today and wakes up every 45 mins-1 hour at night. It's horrible, isn't it? ?
