Pregnant after 35

When you see new birth posts...

When you see new posts about somone giving birth, do you get scared or nervous because that means you will be next?

I was out of pocket this weekend for my shower and I noticed a new baby post.  My happiness turned to fear once it hit that I would be next.  Anyone else feel this way?

  • Yes, it's like oh my God, there goes another one. I am before you though Moiselle.

Then I def will be sh*tting in my pants when you go into labor!

  • I don't get so much scared, but more nervous than anything.  I keep thinking I forgot to do something or forgot to buy something (even though I've literally been ready for weeks now) and I think the whole "OH MY GOD! I'm responsible for another human being", is what has me on the edge of nerves.  DH, on the other hand is as cool as a cucumber, I don't get it ?!?!

  • I'm excited for those who have had their babies, when I see the new birth posts.  But I'm nervous about ME, too.  Six weeks to go... when I think of that, I'm like "why did I want a baby again?" LOL

Yet at the same time, I'm looking forward to meeting him and finding out what type of person he'll become. So I'm dealing.

But I wish I could take anti-anxiety meds to deal with the nerves.

  • It's too early for me to get that sort of stage fright... or at least I *hope* it is!  I'm starting to feel little nervous stirrings, though.  It's starting to occur to me that this baby will actually need to come out at some point...  eeeee...

  • I get scared sometimes but it also feels really surreal to me still. By the way Moiselle - Happy 35 & 35 - so cool! I am right behind you. You will do great, I am sure of it.

I think I am before both of you. Of course I probably just jinxed myself and I will go late.

  • I haven't been on in a while because of hectic work stuff.  However, I totally feel your same anxiety.

I have less than 4 weeks to go and I just realized (tonight) how ill-prepared I am.  I read a whole string of posts about getting ready for the hospital - which included a discussion on all the items to bring with you.  I have none of this stuff yet and I'm running out of time.  Why do I keep putting my head in the sand like a scared ostrich?  This baby is coming whether I'm prepared or not, so I guess I'd better get my butt in gear.

Best wishes to all of those who are getting really close :)

  • I'll definitely be feeling nervous when I see those just a couple of weeks ahead of me having their babies. I'm ready to meet my little one, but I have no idea what to expect!

  • Honestly, I am a nervous freakin' wreck. Lamaze class this past weekend didn't help..
  • I was doing OK in not worrying about labor & delivery until I started taking my prepared childbirth class. I suck at breathing. I'm going to pass out. My poor DH will be saying "don't forget to BREATHE" the whole time.

But I'm still in no hurry for him to arrive... I want to NAP as much as humanly possible (for a pregnant woman) over the next 6 weeks.

  • We took our first lamaze class this past weekend, and I wasn't very good at relaxing/breathing either. Hopefully while in labor I will do better, but I have been known to be a hypochondriac, so I'm sure I'll be aware of everything going on with my body.
