Please help - trying to increase supply

Currently, my DS nurses about every 2-3 hours.  I pump after the last feeding at night and after the first feeding in the morning.  I also tried pumping around lunch time (after his lunch time feeding).  The problem is after I pump, the following feeding I feel like I don't have enough milk.  DS will take from both breasts and then still not be satisfied.  Should I pump more often?  Maybe pump 10 minutes after every feeding?  I just am so confused on how I am going to increase my supply by pumping more, but then he has nothing left for the next feeding?  Thanks!

Re: Please help - trying to increase supply

  • How far before the feeding are you pumping? It may be the case that it's too close, but it will help increase your supply over time. Is he having enough wet diapers, etc...or what is causing the concern over your supply? He may just be wanting to cluster feed too which is why he doesn't seem satisfied.

  • He has plenty of wet/poopy diapers.  I was trying to increase my supply so I have plenty in the freezer....but I suppose it takes time to build it up.  I think I was just pumping too close to the next feeding.  I'll just pump at night and in the morning and then see how that goes.  Thanks!
