Taylor for a boys name

What do you think? The only name we have really agreed on is Taylor. But it seems to be more popular among girls, than boys.

What do you think? Do you like it? Is it too girly??

Re: Taylor for a boys name

  • I like it for a boy, though it has become much more popular for girls lately!

  • Even though it is a popular girl name, I don't think it sounds girly. I think it makes a great boy's name too!

  • I know things vary regionally, but I have never met a boy named Taylor.

I do however know several girls named Taylor between 2 and 14 yrs old.

  • I know 2 Taylors that are boys the rest are a handful of girls.

When I hear it I think of a girl.

  • Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a son Taylor.  I've heard it for a few boys too but it definitely seems to be used more for girls.  I like it, as long as it won't bother you that there will most likely be girls his age with that name.
  • I love it for a boy, much better than for a girl.
  • Taylor is a boy name to me. I think it's okay for girls and it is getting more popular, but I still think boy.

  • My boss' youngest son is a Taylor.

  • I think it's becoming more of a girl's name and, for that reason, I'd be reluctant.
  • I have never known a boy Taylor. I know 3 girl Taylors one is 25, one is 24 and one is 8. There is a twilight movie actor named Taylor and he is pretty cute but I think Taylor is a "girl" name even though it was originally a boy name.
  • Hmm, I may be alone here, but I still think of Taylor as a boy's name initially--probably b/c I've known many more male Taylors than female.

Either way, I definitely don't think it's too girly for your son.

  • I always thought Taylor was more of a girl's name, and Tyler was a boy's name.  I guess Taylor can be either though.

  • Honestly, I just really dislike pretty much all unisex names. I feel that they sound kind of girly on boys and not feminine enough for girls. The only exception are names that have truly made the crossover. For instance, Leslie used to be a boy's name, but now it has truly made the crossover to being a girl's name, so I no longer consider it unisex. For boy's names though, it just ruins it for me once girls start using it because I worry that the name will eventually become just a girls name. And I have a lot of sympathy for the boys out there with names like Ashley or Hillary when those names really became girl names.

  • It sounds very early 90's. I don't know why but Taylor is one name that just seems really dated. I would say it is unisex.
  • I think it was traditionally a male name, but I think it's been overtaken by females.  I think girl when I think Taylor.
  • I love the name Taylor, but I prefer it for a girl.
  • I don't think it's "too girly," but I do prefer it as a girl's name.
  • I like it for a girl.

This. Plus Taylor sounds so 90s. I don't like it at all. ?

  • I have a 17 year old sister who is named Taylor.  She is one of 6 in her class.  5 girls and 1 boy.  He doesn't go by Taylor but by TJ or something like that because he was teased so much.
  • I like it okay....it will always be a boy's name to me.

Because it is very dated! People are still using Taylor?! WHY? This is one of my least favorite names. Along with Jordan. I despise unisex names.

Though I know a boy Taylor, I still think of it as a girl name.
