Inductions that did NOT lead to C/S - Clicky Poll

Re: Inductions that did NOT lead to C/S - Clicky Poll

  • I am the one who had a C/S. I was 1 week overdue and had my scheduled induction. Had labor for 14 hours with no pain meds.. dumb.. then got epidural.. HEAVEN!!!! Still not enough progress and dr chose to go C/S. My LO was head down but once they got in there they realized she was transverse. Her poor little head was so cone shaped.. she never would have come out vaginally. So I would have had to have a C/S no matter what.?

  • I was just given pitocin, no cervadil. I was started on the pit at 11AM, and I gave birth to Lili at 10:15PM that night. No epidural. I did have an IV drug (Nubain), but it was a very small dose, and I would never recommend it to anyone. I felt like I was hallucinating and almost passed out.

ETA: I was 41 weeks and a day when this happened. I was wanting to go until 42 weeks, but they were having a rough time finding Lili's heart rate, and when they did find it, it was weak, so my midwife started me on some pitocin to speed things up, as I was already having a few random contractions.

  • I was scheduled to be induced,  was given cervadil and was allowed to walk the halls.  They we're going to given me pitocin at 6am, but my water broke at 330a...

I had a Vaginal Birth with Epi & Pit.

Just remember whatever you have happen, its only for your benefit - to get you and baby home happy and healthy.  Keep that in mind, and you should be fine.

  • I was induced with my first son. I had cervidil which threw me into labor all on its own. I never needed any Pitocin. I also did not want an epidural. It was a 9 hour labor, and 30 minutes of pushing and baby was out.

  • I was induced twice and had vag births both times.  First time went in Friday at 1pm had dd on sunday 1:50am...LONG process.

2nd time went in at 9 am had ds at 11:34pm.

  • I was induced. I was giving pitocin and then had an epi. It was very smooth. I was dilated in about 6 hours. But DS was sunny side up so I pushed for 2.5 (not fun). I was so afraid of a C/S but all turned out well. The induction was super easy.

  • I was induced at 37w 5d for blood pressure. I was 50% effaced and 2cm dilated. They gave me a dose of cytotech at 9:45am and started the pit at 1:45pm. Got the epidural at 4cm so I really didn't feel anything until the very end. I was fully dilated at 5:05am and he was born 44 minutes later. Very easy

This is me almost exactly. Pit induction, no epi, 41w2d, low AFI (reason for induction). Pit started at 1:30PM and had DD at 11:12PM same day.  I did not have Nubain and glad I didn't based on above experience.

I was induced at 42 weeks.  Back story - my cervix was completely uncooperative and what shut like Ft. Knox at my last appointment at 41 weeks.  The day of my induction I had finally started dilating - I had started going into labor on my own.  Contractions were about 7 minutes apart when I showed up for my scheduled induction, but I had been having contractions fairly consistently all day.

They gave me Cervidil to soften my cervix as I was only a fingertip dilated when I check in.  Somewhere around 2am, my water broke on its own.  By 8am I was dilated 4cm and they decided to start Pitocin.  Christopher was finally born vaginally at 4pm.

    Good luck!

ETA: The most important thing is that you have a healthy baby.  Try not to get hung up on having a vaginal birth.  And take an Epi if you are in pain - it was heaven sent when I got mine.
