Doulas in Phx?

Has anyone used a doula?   If so, could you share:  1)  Did you find the services valuable?  (why or why not)   2) Anyone you would recommend?  3) Approx cost? (not sure if covered by insurance)

 Thanks!  I'm new to all this (i.e. first time mom) and want to ensure that I've considered all my options.

    I have never used one either but I am looking into the whole birth at home and utilizing a midwife. In the process of research, it seems that the few doulas that I have come across are about $550 and I don't think ins covers them as they're only there for additional support and medical personal of some sort needs to be around for delivery.
