When did you stop swaddling?

Son is 2 months, doc says we should stop but we tried and he won't sleep!  thoughts?

Re: When did you stop swaddling?

  • We never swaddled, but I think it is customary to stop when they start wiggling an arm or leg free during the night since you don't want them to get tangled with the blanket.

  • We stopped at 5 months (when she started rolling over).  I wanted her arms free, since she now sleeps on her belly.

The first two nights were awful.  She was up every two hours.  The third night we were back to normal-waking only one time to eat.

I think 2 months is super early to worry about unswaddling.  They aren't forming habits yet anyway.

  • We went till 4 months- when DS started rolling we stopped. We did a "swaddle" with both arms out for a long time and it did seem to help.

  • Two nights ago....DD will be 5 months this week. She has started rolling and I found her rolled over (swaddled) against the crib bumper and FLIPPED OUT! The first night was aweful.....won't lie! However, last night was much better. She only woke once (however it took 45 minutes of fussing to get back down), but she slept for 13 hours otherwise.  Her naps today were great! There is hope....
