seriously bad diaper rash help! update pip ick

Ok So off and on little dude had been having diarrhea. He woke up screaming and I changed his diaper in the dark, I was sure to apply our normal cream. Just now I went in to get him and change his diaper.

OMG his whole butt is bright read with little patches that look on the verge of bleeding. he went to bed and it was almost gone.

I usually use jason's organics. It did leave a little patch of residue in a CD so I bought some from Little Twig yesterday.

So I have the little twig at home, but I'm wonderif if I should try something else. I'm going to run the to store shorty for some toast for him. Any help would he much welcomed. He's never cried during a diaper change and it made me cry

Sounds like bum burn. acidic foods can do that, so can detergent residue. H gets it sometimes because she's so sensitive.

Naked booty time is the best thing- try to let him air out as much as possible. also a good barrier ointment- alba's un-petroleum jelly, grandma el's (use a liner), baby bottom better balm are all good. weleda diaper cream works best on H. whatever you use, apply it fairly thick.

also change him ASAP unti lit clears up. i'm in no way implying you don't change him enough, just that irritated skin will only be more irritated from the urine/poo touching him and make it worse.

Naked baby time is the quickest cure I've found. If you need a not too messy way to let him air it out, I usually stick Merritt in the bathtub (without water) with her bath toys. That way if there is an accident, it's easy to clean up.

Our pedi recommended Dr Smiths and it's womnderful! S has never gotten a diaper rash that's too bad- i put on the Dr smiths if he starts to get pink and it clears it up so fast!

This. Dr. Smith's is the best!

I would suggest using 2 liners if your going to use it with your CD's

If the spots that look like they are on the verge of bleeding look like sores (kind of like popped blisters) then I would call the pedi. Rhett had a bacterial diaper rash a few weeks ago. I thought I was being over-reactive mommy when we found the sores late on a Friday night and ended up taking him in to Dell Children's because they had popped up so fast. Luckily they told us that we had done the right thing by bringing him in because bacterial diaper rash spreads really fast. It is uncommon, but it does happen and it usually requires a bacterial cream to clear it up. You can google impetigo to see what the sores typically look like. It was like you described, though. I had changed him three hours earlier after a nap and there was nothing there. Then when I went to change him for bed his bottom was bright red and he had the sores that looked kind of like popped blisters that looked like they were about to start bleeding.

after naked time it's gone down to this. we have a pedi apt tomorrow for 15 month check up so we'll have it checked out then. thanks everyone!
