So my friend's baby shower is next week and I wanted to buy a gift while I had the money. Instead of going with a cutesy outfit or blanket or somethinglike that, I decided on a package of sz 2 diapers, baby socks and a swaddle me blanket. I have always heard really good things about the swaddle me on here so I thought I'd get her one but I'm worried she won't like it or want one. I guess I'm just so used to getting the cute outfits and stuff that I'm a little unsure. Do you think this sounds like a good shower gift? It's not the cutest and I'm sure she'll have more fun with other gifts but this is pretty useful right?
ETA: I just wanted to add that she doesn't have a registry which is why I didn't buy off of it.
Re: Good baby shower gift or no?
For me, I was not as excited about the cutesy stuff. I am a practical gift giver so I would definitely do the diapers and anything else that you think would get a lot of use.
I honestly was more excited about getting stuff off our registry. If she doesn't have a registry, then practical gifts would, imo, be the best.
Let's try this again...
Agreed. I am one of those "terrible" people who is hoping not to get any clothing at my shower - we don't know the gender yet and don't want to be laden down with yellow and green.
Practical gifts ROCK - whether for the baby (like diapers, wipes, etc) or for mom (spa gift certy!).
This.
Sounds like a great gift to me.
Plus, I know in my experiene, once the baby comes and I go visit, I usualy get a cute little outfit to bring with me.
I think it's a great gift. I love the Swaddle Me blankets, and have a couple on hand for this LO. I used them daily early on with my DS.
I personally loved getting all the cute little outfits and blankets at my shower, it was a lot of fun to open those gifts and ooh and aah over everything! I know most people want the practical things off their registry but I generally like to get gifts that are things I probably wouldn't splurge on myself. I think no matter what your friend prefers, she will appreciate the thought you put into the gift!
