peanut shell sling?

anyone use for the newborn phase? reviews? i really liked my moby and am likely getting an ergo, but this one just looks SO simple to get on and off--something i'll need with an 18 month old on my hands in addition to the new baby. thanks!

Re: peanut shell sling?

  • I had one and ended up giving it away. DS hated it (but he had reflux so prefered upright carries and while I think you can do it with a peanut shell I never figure dit out) and the few times I managed to wear him successfully it made my back hurt so badly I had trouble walking later on in the day. Though, when that happened I was still post-partum.

  • i just tried on a Hotsling in a store today in hopes it would be faster/easier to put on and fit in my diaper bag compared to my Moby... i think the Hotsling is similar to the peanut shell right?  anyway it was smaller and quicker to put on, but same as pp it HURT my shoulder sooo much within like 2 mins of wearing it.  ALL of the baby's weight is on your one shoulder.  maybe if they're newborn and small that is ok, but my chunky monkey DD was way too heavy for me to buy it (i had her upright, not in a cradle hold).  but i also have a bad back/neck so maybe if you are stronger than i am..!!  g/l

  • i have a small i used exclusively the first three months. it was great until i started losing the belly and she was hanging around my crotch, it seemed.

if that would be the right size for you i'm happy to send it up there and you can use it as long as you'd like :) i would like to keep it in my BWing group library eventually, but we do have a hotsling in the exact same size, so i'd just like to see it get some love. its vanilla bean print, BTW. you can email me pfplihal at gmail if you want!

  • I have a hotsling and an ergo.  I LOVE them both.  J didn't love the hotsling until she was about 4 months, but I used it every day, multiple times, to walk the dog.  It isn't great for longer outings, but is fine for a quick shopping trip.  I still wear her in it now.  It's much easier than just holding her.  I use the ergo for longer outings.
  • I like my penut shell or quick trips 3 months and under. Any more then that it kills my shoulder.
  • thanks girls! and nluvntexas that is so generous! i will shoot you an email!
  • I have one and I love it.  DS actually preferred it over our Beco when he was smaller (and still does).  He's nearly 18lbs now and I find it comfortable.  It was a lifesaver when we flew this month since it was compact for our carryon & much needed at the end of travel days.
