WWYD...Front facing Question

My Mom sits for DD on Fridays and she occassionally takes her out and about in the car. We got her a Britax Boulevard just like ours and we're having trouble intalling it. It's just not secure enough in the rear facing position in the middle of the back seat (Honda CRV).

Which option would you choose for the best safety:

1. Put the infant seat back in for awhile, which might be fine since DD is very little and just hit the 20lb mark and she'll only be in it very rarely.

2. Put the Britax on one of the side seats (not the middle), we haven't tried yet, but it might work if it's secure.

3. Put the Britax in the middle forward facing.

I have no idea what to do! I'm nowhere near ready for forward facing yet, but it might be the safest option?? I really appreciate your opinions ladies. Thanks!

  • I would choose RF on one of the sides...probably the passenger side.  It may actually make it easier for your mom to get her in and out anyway...we have an older CRV and the seat in the middle and I sometimes struggle getting him in and out w/out smacking his head on the ceiling....

  • We have never been able to get our seats secure in the middle part of the vehicle (we have a Ford Edge).  My DS is rear facing on the side.
  • I would take it to the firestation and have them install it.  They got DDs seat in the first time really secure and showed us how to do it to get it just as tight.
  • #2.  DS has always been on the passenger side of our cars.
  • we have the Alpha Omega Elite and we had the same issue. so we did #2. and it's working well!

Agree with pp - #2. ?We have our daughter's seat RF behind the passenger seat in both our cars. ?It's not as safe to do FF in the middle as it is to do RF on either side.

  • I would RF on one of the sides.  Maybe check the vehicle manual.  Ours actually states in it that the design does not allow for a child seat to be safely installed in the middle (because it doesn't sit right so isn't stable).  We had originally been trying it in the middle and then realized that it needed to go on the side.  It worked just fine.

Same here. We can't put a carseat in the middle so it's side for us.
