PSA: cloth diapers

I just wanted to let any of you Central PA ladies that are curious about cloth diapers but not yet using them know that I currently use cloth diapers and want to let you know that it is VERY easy and soooo good for both baby and the environment.  The benefits of using cloth diapers far outweigh the cons.  I am availing myself for any of your cloth diapering questions

    Wow we've got quite the representation of cloth diaper babies here in little ol' Central PA!  J's been in cloth since Day 5 and we definitely love the diapers too.

    In talking to local girlfriends, I don't know anyone else that does/did cloth diapers, however, there certainly seems to be a curiousity.  Once I show/tell them how to do it, they are surprised at how simple it actually is and are consdering it for future use.  It makes me smile to know that there seems to be more mommies in Central PA using cloth than I had suspected!!  What type do you use?  Prefolds and wrap cover, AIO's, fitted, etc.?

    We use mostly one size BG pockets and organic AIOs with a few prefolds and Thirsties covers.  We love them!  How about you?  I have a good friend who is due next month who will be using cloth as well-- she's the one who got me into it.  Also my friend Christina who is on here uses cloth.  We asked J's pediatrician if he sees many cloth diapers and he actually said he sees more and more all the time.  I'm sure if they carried good cloth diapers in any stores around here, more people would be willing to give them a try.

    I use GMD prefolds, and thirsties covers, have bummies super brights to try as well when we move up in size.  We should open a store then!!  It took me a lot of online researching to figure out what and how to use.  It would have been much easier if there was a store aorund that had the supplies and I could ask questions etc.  Where did you get yours?  I ordered everything from GMD online.

    I got my current prefolds from GMD; infant prefolds from Modern Diapers  (LClaire owns the online store and needs to open an IRL store! Add that to your list of "to do's", LClaire!); some of my organic AIOs from moderndiapers.com and some used; and my BG pockets are seconds from cottonbabies.com

    I'm so glad to see more local CD users too!  We love ours!  I was first intrigued by them from reading the EFF board and LClaire's site.  A friend, Jill, so generously gave me her NB stash (thanks again Jill!), then we met with LClaire and it sealed the deal to give them a shot.  That meeting also convinced DH.  He was willing to give them a try then saw how easy they are and was sold.  We use PF's & Thirsties covers, a couple Thirsties fitted with covers, BG's, Haute Pockets, a Fuzzi Buns, and a KCK One from Etsy.  I've bought through LClaire, GMD seconds (which I can't see anything wrong with), cottonbabies, the swap spot board, etc.

    I didn't know LClaire had an online store!!!  I will do anything to help out local businesses.  I will have to check out the store!  I am sure an IRL store would be a great business in the area!!!

    I just finished prepping our pre-folds last night, and now our diapers, snappis and Prorap covers are all ready to go in the changing table!

    We're starting with pre-folds, then when baby boy gets to 10 or 12 pounds, we'll move to BumGeniuses, like innerpeace did.

    99 percent of my supplies have and will (lots of stuff still on the way to us by mail) come from LClaire -- she was a great information resource, and she was wonderfully accommodating in processing our order!

    Yay for more cloth diapering people!! There are definitely more people locally than I realized - at a playgroup this morning I found out that another mom uses them, too - so fun!! And psuash - even though I don't have a brick&mortar store, you're always welcome to pick up any orders in person or come over to check things out before you actually buy something:)

    LClaire, I may take you up on your offer to come see things. I am one of Ashlee's friends that has become really interested in CD'ing. My little one is just starting potty training, but we plan a new little one in the future. Ashlee has been showing me the ropes and it interests me so much. My biggest set back before was that I had to go back so quickly after my son was born. We are planning that I can be off for a good 12/15 weeks this next time, so it will give me more time..plus, I hope I can find childcare that will allow me to use CD's.

    I like the ones that Ashlee is using, but Bum Genius have always interested me as well.
