Hi all----I had my baby boy Caden anthony on 6/15. 7lb 15oz and 20.75 inches I loved readingbirth stories o hear goes
I went in for induction sunday night. was 1cm and contracting regularly aleady (no pain though).
cervadil inserted around 10pm and nurse gave me something to help me sleep (ambien i think). around 2amcontractions were getting worse so i was given something but not sure what! all it did was make me pass out between contractions but didnt ease pain. at 430am contractions were unbearable and i woke DH up. by about 6 am they decided to remove the cervadil and cart me over to L&D so i could get my epi. no pitocin needed, contractions were pretty much on top of each other.
about 8 am i had my epi and was feeling great! it did not slow down my labor at all. i pretty much slept the whole morning and was progressing quickly.
at one point in the early afternoon i apparently had a 6 minute contraction that the baby could not tolerate. his heartrate dropped to thr 50s. the room quickly filled and they had me changins positions. the doc was massaging baby's head, i was put on oxygen, and given a shot to try to stop my contractions. i was also given a catheter and the anesthiologist (sp???) was called in to have an emergency csection. the heartrate ended up very slowly coming back up and we bought more time.
this was all around 1pm and i was at 8cm. at this point though my labor did slow down. i could not be given pitocin for fear that the baby wouldn't be able to handle those stronger contractions.
3 hours later i was still at 8cm and my cervix was starting to swell. at that point doc recommended a csecion and Casden was born via csection at 3:52pm.
surgery went well and recovery has been pretty good. the 1st day and a half were awful....mainly just b/c i was all gross and had to get washed my the nurses. it makes you appreciate being able to do basic things for yourself. at this point i feel so good, DH has to keep reminding me to take it eas or I am going to end up hurting myself!
hopethi helps someone, best of luck to everyone!!!
