Success after IF

articles or links on choosing child care/sitter

I recall seeing articles online that help guide you through finding decent and reliable child care. they told you what questions to ask and what to watch out for. of course now that I need the links I cannot find them.

any suggestions? I will be interviewing baby sitters all weekend and I need a little guidance.

Re: articles or links on choosing child care/sitter

  • Okay, first, i have to tell you, your DD is so freakin' cute...every time I see your siggy I want to eat her cheeks.

Second, I'm looking (have been looking for months) for a nanny for our DD.  it's really a process...and even though there are a hundred questions out there you can ask someone, they are probably going to give you the answers you want to hear.  I've recently just taken to interviewing in my home with my daughter around them - asking about their prior experience, what they would do (how they'd react) in a "meltdown" situation, discipline style, what activities do you like to engage kids in, and basically get a good "feeling" about them overall.

I've also taken to asking how they feel about having a camera in the house - not necessarily to monitor THEM, but so that us parents can login and watch our child (it's a nice cover up to saying how do you feel about a nannycam).  Get references and call them. You can do a background check, too - they're easy to have done.  I hope that helps.
