P90X

Wasn't someone doing this while the shredders were doing there thing?  I thought I remember someone posting their progress in the shred daily check in.  I was curious if you liked (if possible) it.  Please tell me about it.  Thanks.

Re: P90X

  • I haven't personally used it but a coworker is and she seems to like it. She talks about it all.the.time and how sore she is however she hasn't mentioned if she lost any weight or not.

  • One of the trainers at my gym has been doing it.  She's almost done with the 90 days. She's lost a little weight (didn't have much to lose) but I can see a difference in tone.  She teaches the Body Combat and Body Pump classes which kick my a$$ (and she makes look easy) but she said that P90X was hard and she was sore from that.
  • Hey!  Yeah I've been doing the program.  I had to drop the last two weeks because it's interfereing with my marathon training.  <------That makes me  sound so atheletic when I'm really not.  LOL.

I haven't seen a huge drop in weight.  I started at 175 and am now at 167 so almost 10 pounds.  BUT I did start at a size 12 and am now a size 10/8.  I can see a huge difference in my belly, arms, and legs.  You do gain some muscle.

It's hard.  It's an hour.  It's very hard to find the time to do it but you will get great results.  I am actually going to incorporate part of the weight routines with my running schedule for x training.

  • Thank you so much for the information.  I talked with DH and he said I could order it.  I am going to order it so hopefully it will be here next week when we return from San Antonio.  I am really excited.  I am training for just a 5K (not sure I could ever do a marathon) so I will try and do both.  I probably could have done a marathon 10 years ago when I was playing softball, but not now. I am worried about finding time to do it.  I am so tired after putting DS down.  The mornings are hit and miss especiallly since he is getting up earlier and earlier every day... not sure why.
  • I found it was better to do it in the mornings when DD was asleep or right when I got home if DH would watch her.

And don't order the pull up bar.  They charge an arm and a leg for that thing when you could easily buy one at walmart.

I did fine with 5, 10, and 15 pound dumbells.  I also had a yoga mat and that's all you really need!  Good luck!

And you will be cussing the leader dude Tony Horton.  He's annoying and way to upbeat especially during yoga which I loathed.

You will really be amazed at how the strength training will improve your running.  Good luck with this, I think it's fantastic that you're doing this.  Now if I could just get my lazy heinie up and moving...

Thanks!  We have to do 8 miles tomorrow.  EEK.  I'm sceered.  But we run 5 minutes and walk a minute so it makes it seem easier.  I hope my legs don't fall off.  Wish me luck.
