What would you pay Mother's Helper?

I've got a 10-year old neighbor coming over tomorrow to keep the babies company while I clean the house. How much should I pay her?

For a 10 year old, I'd say 5 dollars an hour.

I would actually call the child's mother and ask what she would be comfortable with, and tell her what you were thinking. I had a 12 yr-old and the parents did not want her to earn more than 10 dollars per week, even though she was here 8 hours a week.

my 15 y/o niece only asks for $5/hour when she is a mommy's helper to my son.

is this 10 y/o really able to help out much with two 2 month old babies? I think i'd feel like I would have to do way too much work to make it worth even having her there... making sure she knew what to do with them, etc. Unless she's a mature 10 and knows babies well.

i'd say $5/hour is fine - since there are 2 and you'll be there.

Gail - She's got 2 younger brothers and has lots of experience with babies. I'm hoping they sleep the whole time, but if they wake up, she can plug in a paci or sing a song while they're in their swings. That would be a huge help while I finish other things. I hope.
