DSLR camera ??

With most pics I take, anything behind the subject is slightly blurry even on auto. What should I do if I want the entire picture as crystal clear as the subject? Do I set the apenture higher, b/c I tried shooting in A mode with the ap high and the background is more clear but not completely?

  • There is a specific pic I want to get and I don't want any noise reduction. Last night I was working on it and I was shooting in A mode with the aperature set as high as it would and there is still a tad blurring in the background, not much though but just slightly. Just wondered if there was something else other than increasing the ap. I think it may be my lens.

It could be your lens. If you're at f16 or f22 aperture - you should be getting crystal clear images. What kind of lens and camera are you using??

  • Nikkor 55-200mm lens. I think that is the problem b/c the ap only goes up to a certain number. I will try my other lens tonight and let y'all know. Thank you!!
  • Which Nikon body do you have?  It could be that you can increase your focus points or at least change the focus - you can either use all the focus points or a single focus point.  Try both, it may be counter-intuitive which one works best.  Also if you're still having no luck try framing the photo with your feet instead of the zoom feature on the lens.  The aperture listed on the lens is not constant for each mm of zoom, so sometimes a photo composed at the wide open aperture at 50mm is less in focus than the one composed at the wide open aperture at say 75mm -- the only difference is that you will have to move around to compose your shot.
