I was only able to do it for about two months. When I was about to go back to work I started to pump durring the times I would be at work and my milk started to dry up. I did something wrong and I was sad about it for a little while. When we have #2 I would like to try and BF longer.
We weaned when he was a little older than 14 months and the only reason I did was because I was approaching 20 wks pregnant. I wanted a break before the next one.
At 15 mos, I was tired of pumping at work and tired of being on demand. Throughout that month I dropped 3 sessions, and then after she turned 16 months (last weekend!) I dropped her night session. I was kind of sad. But like a PP said, I'm hoping to conceive soon, and I need a break. I need a few months with my life back
I'm impressed that 34% are still b.f.ing! I was kind of forced to wean, as DD was down to only 1 or 2 feedings a day when I had to take a med on which I couldn't b.f. After that week, she was like "ew. what's that boob doing in my face?" I wonder if she was going to self wean naturally? Like the number of licks to get the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop, the world may never know.
Re: Clicky: BFers... when did you wean?
I love my crazy child!
My Bio
5.5 months, but not by choice.
I battled with low supply and did everything humanly possible to increase it, but when Ben was 5.5 months, my supply tanked.
He's 15 months today and I'm officially ready to wean. And I have no idea how to do it. I SAH and he still wants to nurse all.the.time.
And he's a very, hmm, "spirited child" so I feel like this is going to be very difficult.
