Every night we swaddle Kennedy and put her to bed around 10. We've been using a sleep positioner since she was born. I know there are pros and cons about it, but she seems to sleep well with it.
Last night, the house was a little bit cold and so I thought I'd just put a blanket over her legs, not anywhere near her torso or her head. I know babies aren't supposed to have blankets in the bed. I don't know what I was thinking!
Around 5 a.m. this morning I hear Miss K stirring. At first I just sat in bed, thinking that she would go back to sleep like she sometimes does. But I hear her muffled crying...
When I go in to get her, she has not only wiggled herself to where her head was in between the positioner cushions (scary enough in itself) but she is also COMPLETELY covered by the blanket.. the blanket was completely over her head.
So scary. I immediately took both the positoiner and the blanket out of the crib! I feel like a horrible mom!
Re: I feel like a horrible mom!
Aw, Lydia! Goodness, you weren't first and definitely won't be the last to do that. While I would react that way too-just don't beat yourself up over it, because you're a good mommy!
Ditto! You are a great mommy!!

Don't feel like a bad mom. FWIW - Avery has slept with blankets since day 1. Controversial I know, but she sleeps best that way.
Now, she's 8 months old and she sleeps best with a blanket over her head - talk about scary! gah!
