I am going out of town this weekend and I need an oil change. I HATE going for oil changes because they always talk me into getting all these things I probably don't need. I feel like they do this because I am a woman but it could be because I don't have a backbone!
Can you suggest a place that might not do this? I am in East Atlanta but downtown, midtown, Decatur area is okay.
Thanks!!
Re: NBR: Oil Change without getting ripped off?
I don't have a rec but what I do when they start telling me stuff is ask them to repeat it again to me slowly. Then I call my father who knows a lot about cars and ask them to repeat it to him.
Works most of the time.
My Dad can be MEAN ...which I use to my advantage in this situation.
I tell them I can't do anything else without first OKing it with my husband. Plus, I don't have time for them to do anything else when I am there because I usually wait for them in the waiting room.
I go to the dealership (Honda). Many years ago, a small auto shop seriously messed up my car.

I go to Larry's Buckhead Auto Center - they are great, have great reviews on kudzu, and have never tried to sell me anything when i get my oil changed.
They are currently running a special - only $2.99 for an oil change. I got it done a couple weeks ago - they still didn't try to do any upselling.
https://www.kudzu.com/merchant/1226693|1.html - look on the right a little ways down the page for the coupon.

Thank you ladies! Good to know I am not the only one. They do it to my Dad as well so I know that it's not just me. They once wanted to do over $300 worth of stuff on my Dad's car. He was mad!
But anyway, that's a great coupon! I might head over there tomorrow. Thanks again!
I always go to the Texaco Express Lube on Ponce, near the Whole Foods shopping center & Eats.
Love them. They never try to sell me on stuff I need, and even if I do need something, they just remind me that it needs to be done.
