Working Moms

How did LO respond when you went back to work?

Was LO about the same as before, or was there an adjustment period with bad behavior?  Did LO reverse cycle their feedings and wake more at night just to be with you?  Or did daycare really help them get more regular for eating and sleeping?

  • Grandma's and daycare watching him have been great sticking to my notes I gave everyone.  So far (going on week 3), he has stayed on schedule.

  • Really, no difference. We never had a set nap or feeding schedule (fed on demand since I breastfeed and napped when tired) so there wasn't really a set schedule to keep. And his behavior and napping/eating patterns seem to be the same with us on the weekends as they are at daycare. Keep in mind too that at this young of an age, behavior and patterns can change so much. So your LO might be up more at night the second week of daycare, but it could be completely unrelated.

  • DS went to daycare at 6 weeks, so he didn't really even seemed phased by it.  however, around 4 months and then again at 6 months, he WOULD get up in the middle of the night, to "spend time" with me.  it made me feel happy and sad at the same time, but we nipped that in the bud, since DH and I have to work FT.  GL!!!

  • I thought he was actually happier with me working, although I was happier too so maybe our time together was just generally more positive. ?I think we were bored with each other 7 days/week (I went back to work at 20 weeks). ?I think my nanny was able to engage him in ways that I wasn't and I think he really benefitted from being around different people.

We weren't big schedulers and we had an in-home nanny so he didn't have to adjust to any daycare schedule. ??

  • It has been rough, this is my 2nd week back. DH and my mom watch him and DS refuses to eat now unless it's directly from the breast. He'll be starving but wait 8-10 hrs until I get home. It is soooo stressful for everyone and he's hungry and cranky. Other than that he's the same

Good to know.  I was sort of thinking this b/c she seems to be crying so much less now, and I would have totally thought it was daycare if she'd started last month!
