i just had my GBS test yesterday and have to go back for another appointment on Friday, so i will find out then. From what i understand, if you are positive, it just means that you have the IV antibiotics and they possibly test the baby just to be safe. --what part of NH are you in? I'm in Manchester and go to Bedford Wmns. Care and will be delivering at CMC.
I tested + early on. TECHNICALLY you can pass the strep b infection on to your LO during birth. The odds are very low. Generally they give the mom antibiotics every 4 hours during active labor. They test your LO for the infection & if they do test +, they get antibiotics, too. If you are not going to be in a hospital or having an IV, you can forgo the antibiotics & your midwife will give the baby a small dose (literally 1/10th of a cc) of the antibiotics after he is born.
