Trying to Get Pregnant

Makeup/skincare poll: When does price really matter?

I don't know about you girls, but there are certain products that I find I can get away with using cheaper drugstore brands, and it doesn't really make a difference.  But then there are certain products that I feel that higher-end brands really do make a difference, and it's worth the extra money.

What products do you find are okay to use with cheaper brands, and which ones do you think are worth spending extra for?

For me, I think cheaper brands for shampoo, body lotion, eye shadow, nail polish, lip gloss, blush, and mascara all work just fine.  But I would spend extra on foundation, powder, facial sunscreen, moisturizer, and makeup brushes.

  • I can't do cheap mascara or foundation.

I can do cheap on shampoo, conditioner, and basically everything else.

  • I can do cheap lotion or bodywash.  Also shampoo etc...

But I refuse to buy cheap tampons.  Due to my current crazy skin condition I'm pretty picky about makeup.  It's not about price, it's about my reaction.

  • i can't do cheap foundation or shampoo (hair is too oily)

    everything else I'm fine with!

  • I can't do cheap on makeup or shampoo. I went from using salon shampoo to cheap shampoo and have tried about 3 dozen and don't like any of them. I'm still trying to find one that works for me.
  • I don't do cheap ingredients, but that doesn't mean some of the products I buy are super expensive . I buy mostly organic/all natural everything because I know what goes into some of the cheap stuff and it's not pretty!

  • I was an intern at Dillard's department stores, and one of the departments that I was in was Cosmetics/Fragrances.  So I have really liked Clarins skincare and cosmetics since then.  I also had oily skin, so Clarins and Aveda work the best for my skin.  And I like Aveda shampoo and conditioner for hair.

I'm a makeup, lotion, shower gel snob.  I used to work for Bath & Body Works, so I have a stockpile to rival an Army Food Bank.  I also wear MAC makeup, and once a year I treat myself to a whole new "look" to the tune of about $200.  Sick.

  • I find pretty much say any make up other than lip gloss is best spending a lil' money on.  Even the cheaper lip glosses work, but the expensive one's are nice too.  All the make up I buy last for nearly a year too, so it's worth the money (except for mascara...that's every couple months). I like BM, MAC, and Sephora....can do drugstore for mascara, but like Lancome.

Skin care...cheap everything proved best after spending loads of $$$ on my post-BC skin.  The only thing that really is better for more $$$ is moisturizer.
