Breastfeeding

Reverse cycling ?

DS does not like the bottle much longer. He pushes it away and won't take much at all or take it over a long period of time. I have tried different flow nipples and I know he takes more from the breast. While I am not too concerned now that I am home and only away for a couple of hours at a time what do you do when he is at daycare when he is not eating? I will go over there once to nurse during my lunch but he will have to take bottles for sure. Thanks for any advice!

Re: Reverse cycling ?

  • I know you said you've tried different flows but have you tried different bottles? DD used ones I could pump into at first (Medela, Lansinoh and cheap Evenflo skinny ones). Around 4 months she refused those and we tried a random Playtex drop in we had got in the mail. She used that fine for a while and then began to refuse again. I got BreastFlow by First Years last week (9oz med. flow) and she's doing much better again.

Sometimes it's a game of trial and error. Luckily we haven't wasted too much money on any of these.

  • It's possible he will learn to take the bottle when he's at daycare all day.  He may not ever drink much during the day, but he will get by.  DS would drink enough to keep from starving, then nurse all night long.  Once we was on solids, it was a bit easier.  DCP would give him BM in his cereal, and he would eat solids and drink BM from a sippy.
