My mom is all the time calling me while I am at work for dumb things that in my opinion could wait until I get home. Two days ago she called me 2 times to tell me that the cherry's on the cherry tree were ready to pick and I should come over and pick some. Today she calls me to ask me what DH is doing today.... a. you have his phone number, b. I'm at work so how in the hell would I know. She's called me to tell me about some talk show and that I should turn it on.... um I'm at WORK!! sometimes I swear she's lost her mind.
does anyone else have a mother like this? Ugh it's just annoying at times. sorry I just had to vent.

Yes.
But Brian's moms are the worst. They seem to be on the same cycle, so often they'll both call him on the same day. They don't get the work thing for some reason - and Brian really can't talk while he's at work (I probably could).
Moms can be annoying. Someday NDbaby is going to say the same thing about me, I'm sure!
I know my mom is lonely, though. She and my dad don't have a fantastic marriage. Not bad, just not great. She doesn't really have friends. She has told me before that I'm her best friend, which makes me feel guilty a little.
I get the possible loneliness, but it freaks me out b/c if I don't answer she'll leave msgs as if it's an emergency and then I'll call her back and it's something stupid. I don't know why, but she doesn't get the work thing either.
DH's dad used to call me as well when he couldn't get ahold of DH and leave these really weird msgs. Thank God he stopped that.

Lauren, this sounds exactly like my mom (and dad). Too bad our moms aren't closer (mine's in Toledo, OH) ... they could be friends
Awwww, that IS too bad! That's part of my mom's problem, is that any women in her life that could be good friends all live out of state. She's close with my aunt, but my aunt lives in Cleveland. She's close with her former neighbor, but Linda lives in Florida. Booo.
I think someday soon I'll be out of my young, selfish phase and will want to share more of our life with her, but right now we just like to be our own little family unit and stay to ourselves a bit (sorry, run-on sentence).
My mom is totally like this. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. But i will say that as soon as Jocelyn was born I saw it differently. My mom and I have a great relationship, but I know sometimes I get irritated with her and it shows. Now I think about Jocelyn feeling that way toward me someday, and it makes me sad! I'm tryinig to be more patient with my mom now, and I even apologized to her
she was really sweet and told me it was okay, that with the bad came the good, and that she's glad I have a daughter so that I'll have that experience.
ditto w/ my mom ... we moved around quite a bit growing up and she never really established friends in Toledo. Her friends live in TX and TN
