so i get home from work on monday and Paco (chiweenie) and Banana (chihuahua) are stuck together.
seriously??? great, now even my dog is pg and i'm still not.

~ what are the chances of a vaginal delivery with the chi, i read on google that some have to have c-section because over the years they have been bred down so small.
~ do the females usually get pg every time they mate?
~ about how many pups can we expect?
~ how long should said pups stay with mom?
I'm sorry - that sucks. Find yourself a new vet - that's ridiculous! But things may be busier in TX than little old Missouri, so what do I know?

it's partly our fault for using the vet on post. they are just sooooo much cheaper with the military discount and all. but because of that they are swamped. anywho, he will be fixed and this will not happen again.

Oops, didn't see this. Dogs almost always ge tpg everytime they mate. Part of this is because females only usually stand to be bred when they are fertile. In fact, they teach very little small animal reporduction in school b/c they is not usually a problem getting dogs bred. We have a surplus!
If she is pg, then she will be due in approximately 62 days, but that is variable. Get a good relationship with a vet that can do an emergency C-section if needed. I have known a chihuahuha breeder that had some luck with vaginal deliveries, but I remember her being in our office for C-sections now and again. If you don't want to go the whole emergency C-section route, than you could find a vet that likes repro and will schedule a C-section.
Don't know exactly how many pups, but you can do an xray after 45 days to find out.
The pups will not be weaned until about 4-5 weeks of age, but that is a little early to be going to a new home. Most puppies are sold at around 6-8 weeks of age depending on the breeder.

Yes Luvs, I get most of my daily entertainment from Ass77. She knows I have nothing against her, otherwise, I wouldn't give her nearly as much time and attention.
