Early Glucose Testing?

Did anyone else have to do the one hour glucose test early? I had to do one with my 16 week bloodwork. No explanation as to why, I'm going to ask at my next appointment.

I was thinking maybe it was because she thought I had pre-existing diabetes since it runs heavily on both sides of my family. But I don't, and I'd been tested right before I got pregnant. Anyway! I was just wondering. I don't know if I passed or failed, yet.

And the drink was not that bad. It was purple, but it was lemon-lime flavored. Like sweetened Sprite.

    I did at 7 weeks, because I am overweight.

    Met with RE October 2013, we've got a plan!
    Surprise BFP on "break cycle" 10/12/13. EDD 6/17/14.
    MMC discovered 11/25/13 at 10 weeks. D&C 11/27/13.
    BFP 2/8/14 Beta#1: 176, Prog 18! Beta#2:335, Prog, 19.5!

    I was tested at 6 weeks.  Doctor's have various reasons for testing early.  Family history is a big warning sign, so they probably wanted to catch it early if you have it.

    I did an early 1-hour at about 16 weeks because of my family history.  The drink was not bad and I passed with flying colors.  My level was 69 but I have no idea what the cutoff was but my OB said it was low so it didn't really matter.  I still have to do the standard 1-hour at 28 weeks too.

    Oh, I'm overweight on the BMI scale. Tongue Tied That could be why, too. I didn't even think of the weight side of it. Thank you!

    They sent me super early (Im talking still in first tri, not out of the miscarriage decreased risk early) because of how diabetes runs in my family. I failed the 1 hour test, did iffy on the 3 hour test and now I have to go again in a month or so, but I have no idea if its to redo the hour test or the 3 hour test.

    Oh thank you girls! I was wondering what was wrong with me. I've never seen a post on here about someone having to test early, and all my friends had theirs done at like 27 weeks.

    Glad to know I'm not a weirdo! Big Smile

    Now I just hope I passed!

    I had to do mine at 16 weeks also because of my PCOS and diabetes that runs in my family... and have to do it again at my 24 week appointment... I had the fruit punch it was not bad at all...

    It is routine at my doctor's office to do an early screening and a 2nd at the typical time.

    I did one at 20 and when I asked why, they said it was because of my (overweight) starting weight. I passed, and will have the next one at 28 weeks, like most people.

    I had to do one early because of my history of macrosomic babies.  That is a risk factor for developing diabetes, so they do the test early in case you have undiagnosed diabetes.  GD doesn't actually show up until mid pregnancy, so when you have other risk factors they do the early one to screen if you have a pre existing issue.

    I took the 1-hr at 16wks.  I have a family history, was borderline GD with my first pregnancy, and DS was a big baby.  I passed, thankfully, but will have to retake the 1-hr at 26wks.
