Angry people are not buying off our registry.

Angry bedrested rant...

Nothing has been purchased off our babies r us registry and the shower is saturday. The only thing off the target registry is a crib sheet  a boppy and a pack of recieving blankets.

I cant go out to get anything myself until after the baby comes, I need bath stuff, diapers and a diaper genie, sheet protectors, towels, a changing pad and cover, bottles, a diaper bag, grooming kit, night light.

I bet they all bought more fricking baby clothes that people have been giving me since day one. I DONT WANT BABY CLOTHES! especially ones other people pick out

  • Damn those people for buying you gifts!

  • Well, since you feel so strongly, give them all a call and let them know. I'm sure they won't mind, they are just spending money. Right?

  • Wow. I wouldn't worry about it. Most people don't purchase their gift until the day of the event. So don't worry, i'm sure you'll get lots of gifts. If not, just buy them on-line and have them delivered.

  • Don't worry, people usually shop right before the shower, sometimes a couple of hours before.  If you don't get everything you need, can you send DH out to get stuff?  I got alot of stuff for my shower(and am very thankful to my generous family and friends) but still need a number of things.  Also, people are going to get you baby clothes.
  • Ok for starters, bump does not like shower related rants that involve people not buying off registries so brace yourself.

Your shower is on Saturday.  There is *plenty* of time left and people most likely will shop the day of the shower or the night before.

You may say that you don't want clothes but your baby will need clothing and it can get expensive.  Not having to buy clothing means you'll have more money to spend on other things that you do need.

  • Not sure if you are aware of this or not, but you are coming across a little bit ungrateful. I understand the frustration of not being able to make returns and get what you need though.
  • A lot of people don't buy shower gifts until the absolute last minute.

If they buy you baby clothes, you can use your money for other items.  I understand the frustration when it seems no one buys off a registry you took time to put together but try to be grateful that they are buying you gifts at all! :)

  • Can you purchase stuff online that you need since you are on bedrest?

It is unreasonable to expect people to buy ONLY stuff on your registry. They want to buy cute baby stuff, like clothes etc. since it is more fun to buy than diapers, bottles, etc. It may be frustrating, but be gracious, and realize they are doing it all while thinking of you and your baby. Not just to p*ss you off...

  • Yikes! I don't even think anyone is throwing me a shower. I get sad when I look in my guy's closet b/c there are only a few outfits.  I see other people, who are less far along, in their pregnancies and they have PACKED closets. One girl even said she just washed 8 loads of baby clothing. I'll take the clothing you get.

I am just feeling sorry for myself today, so ignore me.  Everyone was fighting over who got to throw one for my SIL.

I'm always terrified when JCM and I absolutely agree on anything.

    But THIS - Total Agreement.

?I don't care if you are on bedrest. Suck it up and be grateful that you got anything at all. If you are going to be ungrateful, kindly keep it to yourself or whine to a board that cares. I doubt that exists anywhere other than BabyGaga.

    ?

  • This should be fun. Thank you for making my afternoon more intersting!

  • Clearly your friends and family are all insensitve @ssholes who do not realize that it's their responsibility to provide the major items you feel you need for your unborn child. Jerks! Were you careful to make sure your registery info was included in large neon letters in the invite?

:::snort::: What is even scarier is I have had that exact same thought about you a few times lately.  What is the bump world coming to?! Stick out tongue

To the OP - a note about not being able to go out and buy stuff.  If you already have it all picked out, can't DH go pick it up? Or even easier, order online.  We don't have a BRU so my options for in store shopping are pretty much Target and WalMart (which I won't shop at), so 99% of our baby things have been or will be ordered online.

  • ha, honestly thanks for slaping me guys!

I know I will totally be grateful, I am just worried because I feel so unprepaired and like there is nothing I can do stuck here. I think I need a nap.

    sorry for the rant.

  • I think she was more so mad about not being able to go out and return/exchange stuff after wards and them basically giving her more work to do since it would obviously be so much easier for them to just - you know - get the women what she actually needs.

Can you get your mom or DH or someone to be in charge of returning/exchaning things to help you get more of the stuff you actually need? Surely they'd be more likely to help with you being on bed rest???

  • You can hope you'll get a lot of money, gift certificates, and if you don't need clothes, hopefully there will be receipts in there so you can return them for cash. I understand you're on bedrest and you are frustrated. Hopefully someone can do the returns and purchases for you.

    This.

  • Damn them for getting you baby clothes at their leisure when you NEED a night light and diaper bag! This post made me feel icky.?
  • Are you joking???

Most people don't buy gifts for showers until the day before or day of.  All you need when the baby comes is a place for he/she to sleep, diapers, bottles and formula.  The rest you can get later

People love buying baby clothes. Deal with it.  If you don't like them sell them on ebay or return them.

  • I don't have hardly anything purchased off of my registry and I'm pretty sure I will be getting about 20 homemade blankets, but I'm still grateful because I too am on bed rest until the LO comes-everything I get is one less thing DH and I  have to purchase.
  • If you can't get out of the house to get the things you need, see if you can get your husband, mom or girlfriend to pick them up for you so you can have some peace of mind.

  • Whoa wait a minute...Why does the fact they aren't buying off your registry make THEM angry, when you seem to be pretty ticked? I would think if they are angry, they wouldn't buy a you a d@mn thing.
  • You do know that both of those places that you are registered ship to a home address. See problem solved, oh that is unless your just pissed that people aren't buying you what you want........hmmmm.

  • uh oh. I hope you are just having a bad day and didn't mean to come across that way. My shower was on the 7th. Most of the stuff didnt get purchased off my registry until the 6th. And you know what my favorite gift was? A hand made quilt from my Nana-not on any registry!

    sorry for the rant.

Why can't you order online? Seriously....you probably have MORE time being on bed rest than many woman on here.

  • You should be glad to get anything at all, regardless of whether or not it came from your registry. DH and I were prepared to buy everything ourselves, and I did not have a shower. I created a registry with the intensions of using it only as a list of things we wanted/needed to buy, and I only gave the info to close friends and family who asked me about it. I didn't expect anything from anyone, and I am so thankful and appreciative of those people who were thoughtful and generous enough to buy anything at all for our baby.

I don't mean to sound angry, and I'm sorry you are on bedrest, but it just drives me nuts when people fuss about shower gifts. Be glad for what you get, and be done with it!!!

  • Wow, you need to settle down.

Yes, it's frustrating when people don't buy off the registry.  But you sound like a bratty little kid.

Plus, most people will wait until at least Thursday to shop for a Saturday shower (in my experience, anyway).

  • I think that's part of the problem with finding out/telling everyone the sex of the baby. No one wants to buy a changing pad cover, when they get can you a cute outfit.

Honestly, that is one of the reasons we decided to stay Team Green - not the only or most important reason, but a reason.
