Fun Question - $40 Million Jackpot!
Ok, another fun question post.
You and your dh bought a lottery ticket and got a $40,000,000 pay out. What would you do with the money?

Could you not do that? I thought you won the lottery & couldn't breathe because I was so happy for you.?

Now what would I do with the money? I'd pay off my bills, then buy land and build a house with all the amenities. I'd hire animal people & start a doggy daycare of sorts so my dogs could have some daily interaction & exercise.?
Then I'd invest most & travel with dd & dh. ?
Ok, first the practical stuff - I'd put half of it away for taxes and any left over of that would be invested. Then I'd pay off my debt, dh's debt and the debt of our immediate families. I'd also put a million dollars aside for college funds for all the "kids" in the family - so about $5,000,000 for that.
With the leftover money I would buy dh a sailboat and a corvette (two things he's always wanted) and then I would fly around the country visiting all of you girls. Any left over money would then be donated to different charities and/or organizations I support.
If I won the lottery, the post title would be something more like

I'd invest 1/2 immediately. Then I would buy the 30 acre place next to us - tear down the house, rebuild my dream home. Get some horses.
I would set up trust funds for Avery, neice and nephews (and my sister's future kids). Send my sister back to school. Buy a house next to my mom's place. Rebuild her house.
To keep me busy, I think I would do event planning or own a children's consignment store.
We'd buy DH a Corvette - his "dream" car.
LOL ?
First things first, go on vacation!!
Buy new house
new cars for each of us
Buy gifts for family
Donate a bunch to those less fortunate
Go on another vacation
Lots of things! Some ideas probably:
Invest, give some to charities & close family/friends, buy vacation property, start my own business, and buy a new house.
after mr. tax man takes half, i'd pay off all of my debt. i'd then pay off all of our combined debt and the debt of our families. college money for our kids (my siblings can afford college for their kids, lucky duckies). i'd quit my job and take on some volunteer work instead, but would allow myself the opportunity to just be a mom for a while. mr. soup could also quit for a bit, but he'd get into too much trouble if he didn't work so he'd have to at least do something to keep him busy and bring in a bit of cushion money in case i decided to buy too many swedish fish and made us broke again.
i'd also set up some sort of a foundation for kids/families in need.
mr. soup would get a car (something sporty and totally not a family car) and i'd get a vacation home somewhere. we'd travel and move to a much bigger place where we could have more kids.
ok, so seriously, where's my winning ticket?!?!?
So many things!
1. Pay off all debt (home, dh's car, cc's)
2. Buy myself a car bc I need a new one anyways:)
3. Put money in a trust for ds and plenty in a 529 plan for his college
4. Probably gift a certain amt to close family
5. Buy a vacation home (probably in CA) that the whole fam can use
6. INVEST!
Ahhh if that was true........
1) Pay off debt.
2) Buy house in Oia, Santorini along with bookstore/cafe overlooking the caldera.
3) Host PAL GTG in Oia with jet piloted by dad to pick up nesties.
4) Buy DH yacht, so he can captain willing participants around the Med with Yianni and myself, of course.
5) Vacation in the south of France every summer.
Oh, and get a full body scan!
We pass a sign on the highway that shows the current jackpot a lot and always discuss what we would do.

buy some land and build my dream house
put some away for college funds(so our DC wouldn't have to want to win the lottery to pay off student loans like me)
