I'm trying to reorganize my week and I've done a lot of reading that says having 1 major task per day helps "guide" your week and creates a predictable routine. I feel so overwhelmed that I need help even seeing what needs to be done!!!
What is or week organized like? If you want, please include your leisure activities as well! I need a full life makeover here!
Re: What is your week like?
Not sure if this will be helpful but here you go...
AM: wake up, playtime, ERRAND, lunch around 11:30
PM: nap (usually from 1-2), playtime inside and out
The errand usually consists of groceries on Monday, shopping on Tuesday and/or for misc stuff, Thursday I'm at my grandmother's all day with DD and Friday we do storytime at our library for our 'errand'. Sometimes, if I don't have much to do in terms of errands on Tuesday or Wednesday we'll head to the mall to browse and DD can walk around pretty freely...just something to get out of the house. The mornings are really tough for me because I am just antsy waiting for DH to come home, which is why I scheduled my errand in the AM time slot. The afternoons with DD go by fast because we both love being outside and 'exploring'.
AM's start with: Breakfast, unload dishwasher, put a load of laundry in, check email/google reader, head to the gym at 8am (I have an early riser, DD is up around 6:30am).
DD has activities 3 days a week usually starting between 10 - 10:30, after the gym we go straight to her activity or run an errand or two.
Noon, home for lunch, put load of laundry in dryer, start a new load (I hate folding laundry, so I wait until I have 4 loads of dry laundry before I start folding), load dishwasher, vaccum (everyday because we have 2 hairy/dirty dogs), and wipe down all counters and table.
2 pm - 4pm is naptime, and I do nothing but what I want to do. When DD gets up we start dinner or go to the park, or she plays outside. When DH gets home, she hangs out with him.
I clean the bathroom while DD is taking a bath, since I am in there anyway. I clean it almost daily since we are in the process of potty training. Once DD goes to bed DH and I hang out and spend time together.
It took a LONG time for me to get into a good groove with ds and my new found 'freedom'
My day starts at 7am, I have coffee, play wih ds, get ready to go to the gym or run in the park depending on the weather. Leave the house between 8:30 and 9am for my work out.
Come home put DS down for a nap and clean whatever is on the schedule for the day. Monday is floors, Today I did the kitchen, tomorrow is bathrooms, etc....This all gets done in the space of ds's nap.
Now that it's summer I feed him and take him to the pool after his morning nap or we go do something else depending on the weather.
By 2:30 or 3 it's home for nap #2 and I usually start prepping dinner if it's not already done and I take a small break to watch a show or just relax before all hell breaks loose again.
That is pretty much my day in a nut shell unless something else comes up then I just fly by the seat of my pants.
I feel like my routine has changed so much over the past 3 years, each time Emily has mastered something, like crawling, walking, running, talking, etc. and again once she was old enough to enroll in some local art/tumbling/Gymboree/music classes but, for the most part, I am just like citygirl_and stay ontop of everything daily so nothing has a chance to get out of control.
I keep the clutter picked up throughout the day, the kitchen clean after every meal, I make the bed every morning and wipe down the sink, toilet and tub after Emily's bath every night. We have 100% hardwood floor so, I run my Shark Sweeper Vac over our floors everyday while Emily is playing or after she is in bed and I dust the built-ins, entertainment center, dining room furniture, cabinets, appliances and bedroom furniture every other day. DH does all the yardwork and laundry on the weekends and we have a housekeeper that comes every Friday for 1 hour to clean the bathroom from top to bottom and wipe down all the baseboards and crown molding (we have a lot!). Once a month, the housekeeper will also wash all the windows and clean out the fridge/freezer and oven. Once a year we have Stanley Steamer clean our drapes, rugs and couch.
My day is worked around Emily's meals and one nap as well as bedtime and we always run errands or go to a class/activity/park in the morning as that is when she is the happiest. We never go anywhere in the afternoons as there are only 2 hours before dinnertime after her nap, we just play here at home.
Hope this helps!!!

I have to get better at scheduling this stuff. I clean the kitchen every day and I always clean the bathroom before DD's baths (Wednesday and Sunday). Other than that I try to get to the sweeping and vacuuming but since I've been pg and feeling sick I'm lucky to do this once a month. Hopefully, now that I'm getting back into the swing of things I can schedule this a bit more consistently.
I also wanted to mention, that since I've been working on the schedule I provided, DD is actually asking to go to a store in the morning. She knows after a bit of playtime it's time for errands and the car! I think she appreciates the consistency, and it's been good for me too as I'm a type-A.
Bearing in mind that my DS isn't here yet
This is the routine I am trying to get into.
Mon: Kitchen
Tues: Living Room
Wed: Master Bedroom
Thurs: Master Bathroom
Fri: Guest Room (will be baby's room) & Guest Bathroom
Sat: Free Day
Sun: Grocery Shop & Laundry
Daily/as needed: Cat boxes, trash, recyle, dishes, etc.
