I wanted to see how many ounces others get when they pump. My son is two weeks old, and I pumped for the first time today. I only got a little over 3 ounces.
Is that from one pumping session or all day's sessions? When my dd was 1 week old I pumped for all of her feedings one day(didn't bf) and got 4 oz total. If I had fed her then pumped I would have gotten .25 oz after each feeding and probably nothing during the night. Around 2 months dd dropped her 5am feeding and I could pump and extra 8 oz on top of feeding her all day long. So in other words, things fluctuate a lot with bfing. If you are bfing your dc and they are having enough wet diapers and aren't too fussy they're generally getting enough. When we bottle fed dd at that age (8-10 feedings/day) she would take 2 oz first thing in that am and then would only finish .25-1oz for the other feedings.
3 ounces was from one pumping session without feeding on the breast. If I feed on the breast first with the shield, I only get 1 ounce if I pump afterward.
From what I've read, 3 ounces from your FIRST pumping session is GREAT! ?Sometimes people only get 1 ounce. ?Good job! ?If you are going to EP, just make sure to pump a lot... as much as possible, but at least 8-10 times per day. ?Keep up the good work!

That's great. Any time you get extra after you pump is considered over supply.
