West Shore ladies...

If your insurance covers Harrisburg Hospital and you need an ER for something "minor" please remember Seidle Hospital in downtown Mechanicsburg. This is a hidden gem when you need emergency care but you don't want to deal with the wait at Harrisburg.

DH thought he broke his shoulder last week at softball and was heading to Harrisburg when I reminded him about Seidle. He was in and out in less than an hour and a half, including a full exam and x-rays. He would have still been waiting at Harrisburg.

Of course, if it's a crazy emergency, they can't do what a big hospital can. But if you or your kiddo needs stiches, x-rays, etc. remember that it's there. Also, if you need to have blood drawn, it's a quick place. My pedi didn't recommend it for infant blood draws though, since their staff doesn't do babies as much...

Re: West Shore ladies...

  • Ah yes, Seidle.  We were referred there to have Sophia's bilirubin drawn when she was only 3 days old.  It was horrible.  We had to wait about a half hour in the waiting room and then the blood draw lady was no where to be found when we were sent back to her.  The man at the reception desk was clueless and DH was beyond pissed at their lack of coordination.  The girl who actually drew Sophia's blood was ok.  I haven't dealt with them for adult emergencies, but I wasn't happy with the experience I had with the blood draw.

  • Thanks for the recommendation. Are they open 24 hours?

  • They are not open 24 hours, they were open until 8:00 on the night that DH needed to get x-rays. He got there around 7:45 and they didn't kick him out though!

And Sara, I guess that confirms what our pedi said about not going there for blood draws for Adam! But when the kids are bigger and they need stitches, which they all will at some point, it should be better!
