RP from parenting-Changing Daycare

So earlier this year we signed DS up for a very highly regarded preschool ($50 deposit). At the time I was not thrilled by his daycare teacher and thought it would be best to move him. The new preschool is a modified montessori/Reggio Emilia school, he has to wait until he is close to 2.5 to go there. The new school is closer to our home, and I love the director (she does a fantastic job and has a great repuation in our town). Since we signed up, DS has moved to a different class (I like the teacher much better). He was having some problems (not wanting to interact with the teachers) but is doing great in his new class. So my dilema is do I move him still to the new school or not rock the boat and keep him at the old daycare. I know ultimately the new school will challenge him more, etc but should I wait a year?

  • Do what you think is best but personally, I would move him to the school you've been waiting for. I think that liking the director and the good reputation are a big plus and a more challenging school may be more fun and more stimulating for your DS. Also, I think that 2.5~3 is a good age to move your kid to a new school where he can be for the next few years. GL

  • I think so too. I just hate to disrupt him but I am always about challenging him and the school has such a great reputation.
