DH and I are having a huge problem choosing a girl name. We both thought we were having a boy and so I agreed on the name Eva for a girl. Now, I'm not sold anymore and he's annoyed.
We veto every name the other comes up with but we both want to keep it Spanish sounding. Nothing too exotic like Yesenia or Xiomara (ha Ha, my step-sisters' names)
So far we have:
Eva (still on the table)
Ivelisse (e-vuh-lise)
Catalina or Katalina
Eliana (el-e-ana)
Thalia (ta-leah)
Thoughts or ideas?
Re: Please Help w/ Hispanic Girl Names
Very pretty! Of those listed, Catalina is my favorite (lol--although, must say, love Xiomara).
Other beautiful Hispanic/Spanish names:
Beatriz, Blanca, Calixta, Carmela/Carmelita, Carlota, Elodia, Leonor.
LOL! I love Yesenia but it's too "ethnic" for my non-ethnic in-laws.
I like Xiomara! Lol, It's obviously out for you though
Of the above names, I really like Catalina, and Eva is a beautiful name
I really like Gisella for a little girl too
Blog: Baby Mama's Drama
Blanca is my sister's name! Yeah, I love it too.
Catalina was DH's idea and now he's vetoing it. But, I think I'm wearing him down. It is my favorite of all. Eliana is a spinoff of my mom's name Ileana, Also his idea and again he vetoed it. AUGH!
What about Clara?
I love Thalia and Catalina.
Other beautiful Hispanic names (I was a teacher, so I have a ton of them)
Selena, Marissa, Mariana, Luz, Maricela, Luisa, Ana or Ana ____ (I knew an Ana Karen, Ana Maria, Ana Elizabeth). I love Elizabeth, too, with the NN of Lupita.
My cousin's name is Vivianna, and I love it, we call her Viv.
I also love Carmen, Pilar, Karina and Ana
These are all great suggestions! Thanks for the ideas ladies.
BTW: Selena was one of my top favs...DH said "Didn't she die?" UGH!
I love the names Eva and Thalia - very pretty. Catalina is NMS.
I have a good friend named Lucia and I always thought it was a pretty name.
I also like the names Ariela, Isabella and Elena.
I like Thalia, Eliana and Eva.
I've also always loved the name Paloma.
Paloma- ?I love, love, love this name!
I also like Carolina?
I love Eva, but a lot of non-Spanish speakers will pronounce it "Eee-vuh" instead of "Ay-vuh." I have a friend named Eva and people hesitate before they say her name because they are trying to figure out if it is Eee-vuh or Ay-vuh.
My other favorite Spanish names are...
Julieta, Lidia, Milena, Madalena, Carmen, Maria, Elina, Adelina, Natalia, and Lucinda ("Luci/Lucy")
Here's a good site for some ideas, just click on a letter under Ninas...

Carolina, Cristina, Andrea, Lorena, Mariana, Vanesa, Maria, Sofia, Ava, Carla, Paula, Muriel, Liliana, Graciella
Of yours, I like Catalina. How would Eva be pronounced, as if you were speaking it in Spanish, A-va, or in English, E-va? Also, seems like a weird spelling of Thalia for a Hispanic name.
My favorite will always be Paloma. But I like Marisol, Carolina, Emilia, Cecilia (Emilia Cecilia was my HS Spanish class name--lol!) and Clara.
Thanks for the link!!! That's what I'm talking about!

Eva would be Eh-va as that is the Spanish pronounciation. DH and his fam would pronounce it E-vah which is why I'm vetoing it.
Thalia is the proper spelling of Talia I actually mispronounced it above. It is also the name of the singer/telenovela artist married to Tommy Mottola

In order of most-preferred to least:
Eva
Eliana
Thalia
Ivelisse
Catalina (this is the only one I'm kind of "eh" on....it reminds me of the salad dressing...the rest are gorgeous, though!)
