XP: Back from consult -- starting BCP for IVF TONIGHT!!

Wow -- we're moving fast!

We had our consult today for what we thought would be our first FET cycle.  After talking to our doc, we decided to do another fresh cycle instead!  The reasoning is that we would love to have two or three more children.  Since we have the insurance coverage to do IVF now, our doc suggested taking advantage of it.  Next year we'll be moving, and we'll be without coverage -- but FETs are much cheaper than IVF, even when taking into account freezing and moving the embryos.  Plus we *may* be able to add more embryos from this cycle.

So, since I'm on cycle day 2 today, I'm starting BCPs TONIGHT for a retrieval around the end of July (I'm guessing -- no schedule yet).  Holy cow, I can't believe we're doing this again!  :)

  • I was just responding to your earlier post but wow - how exciting!!  It sounds like a good plan based on the family you and DH want and taking insurance vs OOP into consideration - but I know how scary it is to think about doing a fresh IVF again.  Fingers crossed that you'll get your BFP and a few more snowbabies for the future!!

  • I think it's so smart to do the fresh cycle while you know you have ins. coverage for it.

I actually had my IVF consult today too!  However, we're moving ahead with a FET (transfer prob. sometime in August).  We only have one frozen embie and discussed the pros/cons with our RE (we're not moving or anything so ins. coverage wasn't really an issue with us).  I feel so good about our decision.  It's exciting, isn't it?

  • Wow this is exciting!  I LOVE YOUR PLAN!  GL!!!!

  • YAY!  I think that is a great plan.  I would do the same thing if we were in your position.  Good luck!
