TTC After a Loss

???

So I had a m/c in Feb and my doctor had me start bc about a month after to induce AF. I've been on it up until last Saturday; had AF and now we've decided we want to try again so I'm staying off of it. The doc said you should really wait 3 months from going off the pill to try but does that really have a huge impact?

I'm really just trying to get opinions...any would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: ???

  • I have heard that drs like you to wait at least one cycle to make sure your body is completely healed and back to normal.  And once you've had one period, it's easier for the dr to date the pregnancy.

  • I am sorry for your loss.

I had a chem pg, and was told that I could start trying again right away.  I also know someone who had a chem pg, and was told to wait a month.  I have also read about others who were much further along than I was who had to wait.  So I do not know if there is a medical reason or if it is for the mental capacity of the mother.  ::HUGS::

  • I asked my doctor this exact question when we decided to ttc. He told me it didn't really matter. There is no proof getting pg right after quiting bc will end in mc. If that were the case, all those who miss a pill or get pg while on bc would miscarry. I was reading today somewhere on here that it doesn't effect fertility, either, if it is normal bc like the pill. The depo shot would of course take longer to get out of your system because it is injected into your muscles. We started trying right when we quit and became pg 3 months later. Of course, it ended in mc, that is why I am on this board, but my Dr said it had nothing to do with just quiting bc. That's his opinion and what he tells his clients if it helps...
  • No, its not a huge impact at all. I went off BCP in May, we TTC that month but I'm pretty sure I didn't resume ovulation. Some women resume ovulation immediately, or it may take them a cycle or longer (depending on the woman) to ovulate again. there will be no danger to the pregnancy if you do concieve. Every doc reccomends something different, the main reason is to let your cycles retrun to normal, so a pregnancy can be dated as accurately as possible. Good Luck!
  • This all helps a lot. My doc said it wouldnt neccessarily be bad its just the "best environment" if you wait but i dont want to wait lol. So I think I'll be fine...lol besides it may take 3 months to even get a BFP so why stress right?

     BEST OF LUCK GALS!

  • my dr put me back on BC right after my m/c to induce AF as well... and i will be coming off the BC tomorrow to TTC this month... all according to her... of course, my m/c was conceiving the month off coming off BC so hopefully that's not the reason!
