damn dog

so my dog, cash (pic in sig) has figured out that he can jump the fence in our backyard.  it is just a chain-link fence.  now he jumps out every time we leave the house.  the other day he was out for like 30 minutes before MH realized it!

we can't afford to put up privacy fence right now.  any clever ideas as to how we can keep him in the yard?  i really don't want to have to keep him inside all day while we are at work.

  • A moat? I kid. I really don't know. But that would freak me out if I found my dog outside the fence.

The only idea I have is an invisible fence with a collar.

  • Invisible fence with collar, or can you tie him up on a line that is long enough he can still roam around but not quite reach the fence?
  • Hi, I am not usually on here, but I had a similar problem with one of my dogs, so I thought I would offer up some advice. We have a wood fence that our dog found she could quickly jump and since we didn't want to replace the entire fence, we took heavy-gage chicken wire (they sell them in large spools at Lowes or HD) and we attached it to our existing fence, making it taller.  We just used those large plastic ties so we can easily remove it if we need to. I hope this helps!  It was a cheap solution to a potentially dangerous situation.
